Personally art school ruined me before social media did (although social media perpetuates it). Some classes graded sketchbooks and there was a culture in illustration major of sharing/showing off sketchbooks. *All* my art felt like performing for others and it stuck with me these many years later.

Summary:
Alistair jolted from his nightmare, nearly sliding off the bed he was gifted after the journey from the Western Approach. He was half convinced his heart had burst from his chest, hands roaming from his neck down in a panic. His shirt clung to his skin and the sweat refused to cool in the fortress’s shadows. He wanted to peel off his skin and wash it in the river like his favorite cloak, but he couldn’t bring his legs to move.

The smell of rot may have been an illusion leftover from the dream, but he choked on it all the same. Eyes swollen from tears spilled in sleep, Alistair cursed the vein of ichor that pumped through his heart.

the day finally came, and i called off the alistair zine after 2 years of hiatus. the absolute shame and grief this zine has brought me has been unbearable, but i finally swallowed my pride and decided it's simply not worth it anymore. thanks, and sorry. i'm gonna go cry and sleep for a week now.
