#xivwomenweek day 5 - Amid flora and crystals 🌷💠

an illustration of ryne and gaia. In the foreground, the two of them are sitting in the middle of a field of pink flowers, with the crystal tower visible behind a hill covered in flowers, while a close-up of their portraits, eyes closed, fills the background. Ryne's expression and position echo my earlier minfilia entry as well !!

a #wolcred gpose of cherry, my redheaded miqo'te wol, bringing thancred in for a kiss. she is grabbing the collar of his white gunbreaker coat, making him lean down. he has a hand resting on her lower back as he leans in readily, his lips parted and brushing hers.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:

Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

#ffxiv looking the part

digital illustration of ryne (when she was called minfilia) sat on the ground, lightly hunched. she levels an inscrutable stare at the viewer. her dress has been torn and altered so it looks more like that of her namesake's. in her hands she loosely holds one of her daggers and the remaining fabric ripped from one of her sleeves. she bleeds from somewhere underneath her chin. a smaller drawing shows her neck, where her collar has been cut in half and tied around a small blue crystal, resembling the word of the mother's necklace. the crystal has nicked her throat, causing the aforementioned bleeding.

Here's an update on the RP hub discord I'm glad that the "implied" nudity rule has been removed, but this does kind of reaffirm the feelings I had of people abusing the moderation system to target characters that don't fit into /their/ mold of what is conventionally attractive.

We recently removed an image over "implied nudity", where visible skin and scaling through a skirt with a high slit in it was read as implying nothing was worn underneath. I approved the guideline that allowed that kind of call and kept it across revisions, but upon reviewing how heavy-handed it forced our calls to be, it was excessive, and it's gone. That's on the rule and on me, not on the moderators, who applied it exactly as it was written, so please don't aim anything at the people who were faithfully executing the moderation guidelines.
The implied nudity rule is removed as of yesterday. This is still a no nudity rule, it just requires the nudity to actually be visible, nothing gets taken down anymore unless the exposure is clearly visible when you look at an image normally, same standard for every character no matter their body or skin or anything else about them.
There also seems to be a popular misconception about how moderation works on RPhub. We don't browse profiles hunting for violations. Because of the massive community, moderation here is report driven, so we only review what users report to us. If you see something that seems against the rules, that usually means nobody reported it yet, not that it's secretly allowed.
The rules grew piece by piece, fast, and keeping them organized and written down properly fell behind on my end. That is how an excessive guideline sat unnoticed until it produced a removal we had to walk back. I'm taking the lesson from this and working with the mod team on consolidating everything into one clear public set of guidelines. I also hate that anyone came out of this feeling targeted for who they are or how their character looks. RPhub is meant to be for everyone, which is also why we're looking at making abuse of the report system itself an actionable offense.
If you wish to appeal a removal, make a ticket at rphub.co/tickets and we will give it a second look, appeals have changed our decisions before, including this one.

maladjusted bigots are always going to be more proactive in reporting “rule breaking” to ostracize, punish, + harass people + characters for existing outside of their narrow-minded ideals. any user-based reporting + moderation system that doesn’t take that into account is myopic + irresponsible.

Exactly. I am tired of seeing the “I always knew”/“their work was actually bad” takes whenever allegations emerge. Sometimes—often, actually!—bad people find their way into good spaces and make good things. And you’re not better than the folks who were taken advantage of for “always knowing”

#lsp:writes • a potential follow up for that last section, fellas do u ever try to bribe the warrior of light to not sacrifice herself by offering to her your love and since you offer her your body so much she thinks your heart might not be in it for real so she tells you no

Cherry sighs, her eyes dancing between his. With him so close, she can make out his expression and his face's little details despite her clouded vision. He is looking at her with a sincerity and warmth that overwhelms her-strangely enough, it panics her. "I
*have* pushed you," she continues, though her voice is weaker than before. "I am sorry."
"And I have pushed you away," he mutters, brushing her bangs back from her forehead. "I am sorry, too."
"It has always been your right," she replies, shaking her head, her movements sluggish.
"It has not always been right to do so, X'rhyse," he says, his tone still gentle. "I have had a lot of time to dwell on it."
Cherry frowns, her eyes searching his. He has alluded to what the last five years were like, but...
"I took you for granted," Thancred continues. "You had been there for so long... duty might have separated us frequently, but you were a Linkpearl away. You were on the same *star*," he says, his voice growing bitter. "I knew I would see you again. I knew what you would offer me. I knew I would take it without thinking. It was another fact of life."
Cherry breaks eye contact, looking to the side as she grows warm from both his proximity and the temptation to believe him uncritically.

"You are bargaining," she says weakly.
"Just because I fear there may be no 'after' does not mean I do not hope for one," Thancred says lowly. "I want to do it right."
Her breath catches.
"Is this not too soon?" she asks, her voice barely more than a strained whisper. "Do you not need more time?"
"I think I have taken enough of that, don't you?" he asks with a scoff. "I've had more time than you at this point."
Cherry closes her eyes and shakes her head.
"I would not think you to be ready."
"Maybe I'm not. But I want to be. I want it to be soon... and I do not want to watch what happens at the end of this knowing what I could have said. No more regrets."
That is his new mantra. She can tell.
"No more goodbyes," she whispers, echoing his assurances in Ishgard so many years ago. It was an assurance that brought her solace when little else did. "Do not say goodbye to me, Thancred. There will be an after. Then you can decide if you are ready, without duress."
