Cherry sighs, her eyes dancing between his. With him so close, she can make out his expression and his face's little details despite her clouded vision. He is looking at her with a sincerity and warmth that overwhelms her-strangely enough, it panics her. "I
*have* pushed you," she continues, though her voice is weaker than before. "I am sorry."
"And I have pushed you away," he mutters, brushing her bangs back from her forehead. "I am sorry, too."
"It has always been your right," she replies, shaking her head, her movements sluggish.
"It has not always been right to do so, X'rhyse," he says, his tone still gentle. "I have had a lot of time to dwell on it."
Cherry frowns, her eyes searching his. He has alluded to what the last five years were like, but...
"I took you for granted," Thancred continues. "You had been there for so long... duty might have separated us frequently, but you were a Linkpearl away. You were on the same *star*," he says, his voice growing bitter. "I knew I would see you again. I knew what you would offer me. I knew I would take it without thinking. It was another fact of life."
Cherry breaks eye contact, looking to the side as she grows warm from both his proximity and the temptation to believe him uncritically.

"You are bargaining," she says weakly.
"Just because I fear there may be no 'after' does not mean I do not hope for one," Thancred says lowly. "I want to do it right."
Her breath catches.
"Is this not too soon?" she asks, her voice barely more than a strained whisper. "Do you not need more time?"
"I think I have taken enough of that, don't you?" he asks with a scoff. "I've had more time than you at this point."
Cherry closes her eyes and shakes her head.
"I would not think you to be ready."
"Maybe I'm not. But I want to be. I want it to be soon... and I do not want to watch what happens at the end of this knowing what I could have said. No more regrets."
That is his new mantra. She can tell.
"No more goodbyes," she whispers, echoing his assurances in Ishgard so many years ago. It was an assurance that brought her solace when little else did. "Do not say goodbye to me, Thancred. There will be an after. Then you can decide if you are ready, without duress."

a little follow-up from the ivcs guide written by raykie i rejoined the ivcs server but it is titled illusio vitae (archived) and i have no perms to see the history of any channel or forum. according to raykie in his personal modding server, he's the sole maintainer of ivcs now.

ofc! ♥ - vertex paint mode > vc1 - solid view for the viewport, not mtrl preview - vertex selection, next to mode drop down - bright red = strongest; black = weakest - might need to merge tail fluff planes to the main shaft of tail - mtrl constraints 641E0F22 and D26FF0AE to 1 if needed - key edit?

a screenshot of blender showing the tip of my fluffy tail mod. it's in solid view in the viewport and mostly a grey tube of overlapping planes, but the tip is mostly black with some dark red on the outer edges of the planes.

this tail is set up differently than other miqo'te tails, because it is not one tube with planes coming off of it; instead the planes make the tube. there is no need for me to merge planes here, but other miqo'te tails might require merging because otherwise the tips of fur / protruding planes will pull away from the main shaft of the tail and cause gapping.

"Come here."
Thancred tugs the Migo te's face closer to his own, pressing his lips to hers in a sweet, gentle kiss. "My sad, lonely wife," he murmurs sympathetically. She shivers at the title, as always. It feels uniquely affectionate coming from him. "You are so sweet, aren't you? Can't go a moon without me?"
"Not anymore," she grumbles. She pauses, kissing him again before continuing. "I got a taste of what it is like to live together, uninterrupted, for well over a year. I do not wish to taste aught else."
"This won't last forever," he says. "We'll be joined at the hip again before you know it."
The petulant Warrior of Light cannot help herself.
She adjusts her position on top of the Hyur and settles her hips against his own, his half-hard arousal trapped between them. "I wish to be joined at the hip *now*," she whines.
She is pouting, raising herself up with her hands planted on his chest as she holds him down.
A soft, strained noise escapes Thancred's lips. He arches his back and his hands move to her thighs as his arousal twitches against her. She grinds against him, licking her lip as she takes in his reaction. He will pretend otherwise at first, but he is just as eager to stay together as she.
"Well," he begins, voice tight, "if you insist, who am I to deny you?"
