Okay but what if the prince from Metaphor: Refantazio was a regular at the Honeybee from FFVII instead?

Screen grab from Metaphor: Refantazio with the words “The prince is no monster. He's kind, and a regular patron at the Honeybee.”

I’ve been taking an editing class while outlining a dragon-centric novel. Last night, I had a dream that I was my MC urgently questioning everyone around me to find out if I should capitalize hyphenated dragon names. 😅

Best friend tried to tell me the new Shrek movie is Shrek 4 and then had the audacity to doubt me when I told her we already have a 4th one. “No, Shrek 4 is the one with the alternate timeline.” “I can’t believe you know that.” Bitch, I can’t believe you DON’T.

#EllesWeeklyWrapUp Word Count: 3k This week was full of trying to simplify my writing process and organizing my outlines because they were a MESS!

Read:

Mistress of Dragons by Margaret Weis
I really enjoyed this! I've already started the second book and it's even better! Definitely check it out if you like dragons.

Watched:

Master of the Universe
This is one of the best movies l've seen in a long time!!! It's bilarious and doesn't take itself too serious! It's an absolute blast!

Listened To:
An Ending In Itself - Sleeping with Sirens
INCREDIBLE album. I think seeing Looking Back At Me preformed live could heal my religious trauma.

You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love -
Olivia Rodrigo
It's good! I like it! I liked the last two albums more but I do enjoy it!

#LgbtqWriteAThon Check In: My writing week was good! I finished a fanfic chapter and got it posted and started working on outlining what I think will be my next book. I didn’t practice guitar as much as I wanted to though and I didn’t sketch at all.

While I let the first draft of novella marinate before I go over it again, I’m preparing myself for when it’s time to edit/revise. One of the ways I’m doing that is by taking an editing course from Gale Courses through my local library!

When a craft book repeatedly uses Harry Potter as a goalpost I instantly grow wary of the advice being given. Nostalgia does not make a series good™ and objectively, Harry Potter isn’t even close to the most well written fantasy series. 🤷🏻‍♀️

#WIPSnips Warmth. Our hero recalls the final moments with his wife, fueled by the anger he felt in that moment as he battles his enemy. Text in the alt. #WriteSky #WritingCommunity

In a torrent of hatred, I cast aside my left blade, clutching the right with the memory of Quale’s final moments glaring back from Tyrinal’s maddening eye. Her body cold, my tears pleading to the flames, begging their warmth be spread to her lifeless soul or strip me of my own. I held her in my arms, waiting for an answer, waiting for her eyes to reopen. But they wouldn’t, they wouldn’t. She would not awaken. The abundance of warmth could do nothing to revive her. She had fallen; how? How could the lifeless, cold touch of death be present in this inferno? I reject this entity of fire, of existence itself. Life is warm, soothing, and welcoming. How then can this magnitude of heat be so destructive and not bustling with life?

READ

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight
Soil by V. E. Schwab
Very long for the amount of stuff that happens and yet one of the main characters development felt rushed.

Son of Nobody by
Yann Martel
This was a tough read. It's well written and captivating but gods damn was I frustrated with Harlow for the majority of the book.

The Iliad Translated by Emily Wilson
I know I'm already writing a retelling of this focusing on Achilles and Patroclus but I'm tempted to write a reality
TV script of it next.

Watched
The Blood of Zeus
Started watching this anime. the concept is really interesting! I'm only on episode 4 of the first season but so far I'm enjoying it.

Played
Guitar
I've started trying to learn guitar (again) and relearning the little music theory I once knew in the process. I'm following Justin String's free beginner course and having a good time!

Outside!
I've gotten outside and on my skates everyday this past week. Most
weekends were spent at the skating rink wben I was a teenager but I never learned tricks or anything other than skating in a circle. Now that my 8 year old is learning I figured now would be a great time to up my own skills. I'm having a blast!

#SundaySnips Turns out I used a variation of the word is used in both Achilles’ POV and Patroclus’! 😅 #QueerWriter #TransWriter #QueerBooks #AmWriting 📚🏳️‍🌈

Despite us both living there, I didn't interact with Achilles much at all at first. In truth, I limited my interactions to as few people as possible. I hadn't felt much of anything since I learned of my exile. I simply went where I was told and went through the motions instilled in me since birth. I was no longer a prince, but I still behaved as one around those in charge of me. Around my peers, I remained mostly silent, and soon enough, they left me alone. I stayed like that for weeks after arriving in Phithia, not feeling much of anything once the guilt of causing a death had faded. Numb to anger and worry, curiosity, even sadness evaded me. I might have continued like that, existing only as a shell of a person, if it hadn't been for Achilles. He invoked the first true emotion from me since I had washed Clysonymus' blood off my hands.

"Don't say such things, my son. If you kill Hector, your own death will not be long after! Your fate fast runs out after he is slain," my mother pleaded, alarmed at my sudden ferocity. She hoped to change my decision, but it was of no use. I found my own death a perfectly acceptable cost. I loved Patroclus as much as my own life, and without him, my continued existence was of little value to me. I could see then that from the moment my Patroclus was slain, my only purpose in life had become avenging him. For how could I meet him in the afterlife without having done so?
