I had an artist cold DM me on my author account to pity market their commission services. Artists, please don't do this. Don't DM people to beg for their business. It is incredibly unprofessional, and it's what scammers do. If a client wants to do business with you, they'll reach out to YOU.

Guys check out my old pricing sheet from like 2014. I had no one to help me understand my worth and had to slowly learn it over time on my own.

Ysella and Ilai from Cohesion and Chaos #bookart

Two people standing side by side. He is half a head taller than her. He has black curly hair and a thin beard, his dark eyes looking to his right. He wears a thick fur on his shoulders, a long leather jerkin, loose pants, and a sheathed sword at his left side where he rests his left hand on the hilt. She stands to his right in a tattered blue dress, her brown hair in disarray. She looks to her right as well, over her shoulder, almost just behind the viewer. There is determination on her face.

I don't think I'm gonna get a table at that small lil bookish event this October (I'm on the waitlist). I'll probably need to figure out how to sell 20something paperbacks. Is $15 too cheap or am I messing up the market? (Not looking to make a crazy profit tbh)

Oh hi. It's my birthday 🙂 I have to say that diving into acrylic painting and book illustration over these last few years has been incredibly rewarding, and I enjoy learning more, painting more, and getting older really is quite great!

Cover illustration for "Fusion Fragment" showing a portrait of a woman facing upwards, as a mirror shatters around her. The mirror shards all show eyes of other women trapped within them. Two mask shards are also falling around her face, inspired by Japanese kabuki masks, representing her mixed heritage.

Acrylic painting showing Sauron's defeat by Lúthien and Huan at Tol-in-Gaurhoth

Book interior illustration for "Fangs for Nothing", showing the MC Winnie in a castle hallway. The scene takes inspiration from Gothic horror and Gothic romance movies, from the nightgown design to the candelabra.
A black cat hides behind Winnie's leg, a vampire hides in a dark doorway, and the red candlelight reflects of a suit of armor and several empty painting frames.

Acrylic character illustration for a fantasy book commission. The two characters are shown in a sparse, partially destroyed ice palace hall. Both characters have unnaturally pale skin and are clad in black.

There's a lot of discourse happening over on threads about authors getting scammed by ai, and I thought about opening up a sort of charity for scammed authors to redo their covers or something and remembered they would have hired me in the first place if they wanted me. Is that a weird mentality?

I'll be real with you, the only book I've self-published (so far) is due to childhood me having starry eyes for a Star Wars background character that had maybe 3 minutes of screen time. And then I became obsessed with bounty hunters.
