I just discovered that cartoon theaters were a thing from the 1970s and 1980s.

I'm feeling a bit erm... retro today! Have some high quality freshly baked retro Marios like your grandma used to make! #art #digitalart #fanart #sprite #pixelart #memes #videogames #mario #supermario #dorkly

Pixel art I made of some retro-tastic Mario goodness.

First is an edit of SMB1's Mario sprite to resemble Level UPs, plus a bit more detail on the cap. The next 3 are SMB2, SMB3, and SMW versions of the SMB1 Mario sprite. The last one is based on Xand0r's Mario sprites, also known as Dorkly Mario.

So not only did Oney's fanbase endlessly harass his accuser, but Oney himself apparently struck her with a C&D. And she was already so scared from the bullying that she complied and deleted everything. I cannot properly articulate how fucked this is. If you're STILL a fan of his, DNI.

If I had a nickel for every time an off-model version of Johnny Test became a meme, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Shoutout to fristdynamo (Pony Test) and @matiashannecke.bsky.social (Jimbo Quiz)! ^^ #art #digitalart #fanart #cartoon #illustration

A drawing I made of fristdynamo and Matias Hannecke's off-model Johnny Test drawings that became memes, which are drawn in their styles. Fristdynamo made the Pony Johnny Test, while Hannecke made Jimbo Quiz (a fanmade redesign of Johny Test). Jimbo Quiz is tidding on Pony Johnny Test.

The text "Where have I seen this before?" appears in the top left, referencing how Jimbo Quiz is similar to Pony Johnny Test, alongside referencing a running gag in the Johnny Test cartoon itself.

I was going over some of the trends/eras of illustration with my students today and Corporate Memphis created the most conversation. It was compared to a business man in a happy face mask, Arial & pop music. Good in contexts like brightening up a train station, bad in masking the cruelness of tech.

The problem though is A24 is in a precarious state. One more “Smashing Machine” sized-flop could very well tank the studio. Still now is the best time for smaller studios to get into theaters, don’t surrender the multiplexes to Angel films!

Response to Today’s News… David Ellison might have won this war but he won’t have oversight of WB forever. Expect nothing much to change for now. If this goes the way of AOL Time Warner or AT&T/WarnerMedia, WB will be rise up again. WB has been under bad ownership before. This is no exception.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: It doesn’t feel right that most of the recognizable Western properties are controlled by either Disney or Skydance. Both companies should’ve never been allowed to get bigger by acquiring direct competitors.

The last company, AT&T that was forced to split due to monopolies was in 1982. 1982. There's like 5ish companies that owe all of the food market and alot of the entertainment market. Not to mention Amazon is literally in almost every field now it seems, medicine, groceries, online shopping etc.

Dumb lil mockup of what I'd want a SMB3 Remake to look like, basically I'd push the Stage play aesthetic further, kinda like Dynamite heady #Mockup #Fanart #SuperMarioBros3

a Screenshot of SMB3's 1-1 where it's more akin to the Stage play aesthetic of the original but turned up a few notches, the use of Painted BGs and dropshadows for the props highlight this theater aesthetic further

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is.

Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.

Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.

an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

ON THE TOP of that, you should take criticism for your craft. “There’s joy in doing it” and “There’s room for improvement“ can co-exist at the same time.
