Feargal Sharkey: Burnham's water plan won't fix the sewage crisis
The PM's plan to give mayors powers to oversee water companies has gained mixed reviews - but there are fears it won't do enough to clean up our rivers

The publicity stressed that there was a very serious military threat to the nation, now all of a sudden there is not one. He’s a big fat liar.

He definitely needs mins on the pitch. It’s insane to leave him in cold & then when we have serious injuries expect him to come & play as though he’s a. Been playing all season b. Happy with being a sub. If he has a mediocre/poor game people are then on his case.

“Americanisation of British politics” 😂😂😂 It’s probably the last bastion of our culture to fall - all the rest has & nobody gives a shit. TV - gone, long gone. Radio - gone. Films - gone, long gone Music - gone Health - gone Education - gone, long gone Etc

But when Starmer was in it was all about the polls & how he was falling behind. Since he’s been ousted in a coup, it’s been the polls may have been fabricated & weve “just” found out £72m has been given to Reform … that buys influence, which is now unfair on AWOL Andy. 🤷‍♂️

⚡️⚡️Skies over Ukraine🇺🇦 right now. Kyiv is circled. Drones now. Missiles later. Europe is gambling these skies will never become its own. 👉It could be starving Russia’s war machine now. Instead, Belgium still lets Russian LNG enter through Zeebrugge and keeps Moscow funded.

Crypto billionaire. Convicted in the US. Pardoned by Trump. Trashing our democracy by buying Reform. Does anyone think this is to improve our NHS, our schools, our public services…? Of course it fucking isn’t. It’s to make Ben Delo and Farage richer. That’s it. That’s all they care about.

A compliment of sorts, but surely how it works & how we all work. You are paid to think. You can’t stop at every difficulty & just go to the boss & expect them to sort it out. Not sure it’s so much an “old boy network” more the moves from the far right & far left. Carera & others did their bit too.

Long said it. The socusl media, YouTube & Netflix algorithms are not the great idea people think they are. It’s a bit like saying you are a fish n chips person & cannot really enjoy a Sunday roast, Shepherds Pie, curry etc.

Ah the Sainsbury’s deal I have heard so much about. I see they’ve delayed the announcement in the hope people have forgotten. Same old Tories. Had this been Starmer the Guardian would have had weeks of headline articles. Ho-Hum.

No I was not aware of that. However, I was aware of the fact that he got things done & was keen that things got done. This clearly threatened a lot of people. I was dismayed to hear Cooper complain that Starmer wanted solutions not problems. Yvette seems to forget she is paid to have solutions.

We then run into the realms of populism which history has shown both recently & in the distant past, to not be to the benefit of society as a whole, in short it’s been a disaster. Do the job with integrity & intellect. The problem thus must lie with the electorate. Must we dumb everything down?

He cannot direct comms.Thats not his fault.Thats like blaming him for the food.It very much looks like he was stitched up.Dawn Butler let it slip a plan was hatched a long time ago.I suspect his comms team deserted him. He’s a lawyer & ran the election - he’s better qualified & more aware than most.

Not sure he was “poorly advised” by rather let down by people. Having seen the ousting & that it was planned for a year+, my guess is that the comms team set him up for the fall. Now they are up & running for Burnham, whose drink down the Red Lion is tweeted more than Starmer’s achievements were.

Starmer said Brexit was a wrong turn too. Any polls on that?
000
Ellis Redding @ellis-redding.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
Absolutely. Starmer knew the limitations which is why he said we would not be back with the EU, but pushed incredibly hard for closer ties eg ERASMUS. His efforts were rewarded by Macron.

The BBC is run by Tories. Tories answer to Rupert Murdoch (& if he departs, I suspect Musk) Murdoch hates the BBC. It educates & entertains a nation for very little. It’s threatened his take over of the planet. It has the most credibility of any media output on the planet. He wants the BBC gone.

Bingo. Exactly it. If you had a dinner at your house & someone insulted you, threatened you & damaged the place, you’d think twice about inviting the family back at the risk of the individual tagging along too. Starmer realised this.

Those discussions have been had by Starmer (& Lammy) with Macron von der Leyden etc for years. Barely a mention in the media. Starmer brought us a lot closer to the EU. The Bayeaux Tapestry was a discussion between Starmer & Macron. Burnham now flag waving as Johnson did in 2008 & 2012.

The massive swing in opinion polls regarding Starmer especially online within 6 months of him taking office said something very odd was happening. The online pollsters had clearly been bought out. Still people are publishing their “polls” as though they are legitimate.

Notice how doctors & train drivers are all of a sudden apparently happy with their pay & not striking, compared to when Starmer was PM. Burnham hasn’t had talks & settled things or that woukd have beeen tweeted about from the roof tops. So it had nothing to do with pay & just ousting the PM? 😬😳

They are a cult now. Behaviour like that, where the “leader” stands & grins - that’s a cult. Farage is happy they are physically assaulting her. Any other reason he is grinning? They have lowered their moral standards to the rabid animals he wants. A cult.

If it was that dangerous you would have prioritised increasing spending on defence that funding No10 North. What exactly is the cost of that?

Ellis Redding @ellis-redding.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
Healey back himself into this corner. His ranting & raving to depose Starmer has left him with no other choice. Can’t highlight Putin’s recent outburst because that was after his resignation letter. Starmer picked up a far worse economy, so would expect 4-5%GDP now on defence.
