The Spectrum Building fire in August 2024 was this government’s first warning. Over two years later, there have been more warm words but still no decisive change of approach. They all say resident safety is their utmost priority. But this could not be further from the truth.

Instead, Labour has chosen to ignore the warning. The building safety crisis has been swept under the carpet while hundreds of thousands of people remain stuck in unsafe, unsellable homes. The planned Remediation Bill will make no difference on the ground any time soon.
