Doc Severinsen was (still is, I imagine) quite a character.

I had no idea I was engaging in such an exotic-sounding activity this weekend when I visited the Martello tower where Stephen Dedalus and Buck Mulligan stayed.

A Martello tower - a round, squat, two-story stone tower with a parapet roof (tho you wouldn't know most of that from this outside view. A modern building has been attached at ground level.

Fun fact: In Ulysses, James Joyce writes that Bray Head - one of many headlands along Ireland's sea coast - is visible in this view. It is one of the very few inaccuracies in his descriptions of Dublin and surrounding areas.

Tolka Valley Park, Dublin, Ireland River Tolka runs through the park. I'm sure the grassy and native growth fields around the walking paths are lovely when it's green, but everything away from the river and pond is struggling due to a lack of rain lately.

The Vancouver Canucks have had several logos/jersey designs over the decades. Their best is worse than anything* any other NHL team has worn. But the original logo they used for roughly their first decade is just... what? A sort of hockey rink-ish shape. And a hockey stick. That's it. (1/2)
