Complaints have limited legal value outside their case, but the one suing for the murder of Renee Good is an important cultural document. It tracks a grand opera of horror and hate that culminated in the death of a woman at the hands of her government. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

On the morning of January 7, 2026, Renee Nicole Macklin Good (“Renee”),
a thirty-seven-year-old United States citizen, poet, and mother of three, dropped her six
year-old son off at school, drove home through her own south Minneapolis neighborhood,
and stopped her car in the middle of Portland Avenue. Federal immigration agents were
operating there. They were masked, as was their practice throughout Operation Metro
Surge. Renee honked her horn to warn her neighbors. Her partner got out and began to

Yesterday I was proud to stand with @mfelocal59.bsky.social in support of our public schools! The speeches from our MPS community about why their schools are so foundational to their community were moving and emotional. Particularly the remarks from Wellstone and Longfellow students struck me.

Getting a pop up ad on YouTube about an AI agent that can monitor your child’s online activity while I’m trying to watch a press conference where MPS is attempting to justify closing 15 schools. Maybe the most dystopian thing to happen to me in a while.

Making executive branch officials available to answer questions and follow-ups, in public, is the lowest possible bar for government. Frey says it creates a "spectacle" and a "circus." www.startribune.com/mpd-budget-o...
Deputy City Attorney Dan Abelson told the committee the city charter gives the council the authority to request information and the mayor must provide it, but the charter doesn’t specify what form that information must take. The council can’t compel city departments to give presentations, for example, he said.

The council president, Elliott Payne, said proponents of a strong-mayor system promised more accountability and efficiency, but limiting staffer time at the council won’t accomplish either.

“This is about government structure,” Payne said. “This is about the promise of the executive mayor form of government leading to more efficiency and more accountability and the failure of this to deliver on that.”

The mayor said one way or another, the council will get answers. But sometimes that will come in a written response.

“We are going to give them whatever information that they need, under the law,” Frey said.

I've spent today talking to parents & educators who feel abandoned by district leadership. The district hasn’t considered the real impact this will have on our communities. How many families will leave our district? Is there any positive impact their proposals would have on our financial situation?

MPS proposed three different options for a "Transformation Plan" last night. A plan centered around closures as the main strategy is a non-starter. Our MPS kids deserve a plan that treats them as more than numbers on a spreadsheet. Read it here: www.startribune.com/mps-16-schoo...

The most annoying part of this article is how the author manages to sound like he’s looking down his nose at you the entire time you’re reading it. Lecturing people on stuff like this does not matter to them. People have already made the calculus themselves and decided differently.

A statement from the DFL Jewish Community in Support of Peggy Flanagan:
Jews in Minnesota believe our state, nation, and world will not be served by another Trump yes vote in the Senate. At a time when the Trump administration invaded houses of worship with spies and empowered antisemites among its army of influencers, Peggy Flanagan has been a strong voice for human rights without regard to race, color, or religious creed. Jews who claim to speak for us who misrepresent that do not speak in our name.

Peggy has broad support among Jewish Minnesotans as evidenced by her smashing 20-point primary win. We proudly endorse her and will work tirelessly to make her Minnesota’s next US Senator.
