Especially when the oranges lasted over double the amount of time as the ones last year? Pull the other one, it’s got apples on 😉

I think you are absolutely correct, however I’m very glad he did make that score as it’s one of my favourite memories as a kid, and it also means that an appropriate great has the record, as Wiaan Mulder so generously affirmed last year.

When balls were skimming across that outfield towards fielders I was grimacing and waiting for someone to get one in the face. It was an absolute lottery, and Campbell has a point. I also don’t know what you do about any of it. The worms are a vital part of the ecosystem.

I live in Oxford. There are around 18 cricket pitches owned by university colleges that cannot be used by the general public or local schools. Wadham College cricket ground has its own dedicated ground staff. I cycle past it most days and I haven’t see a single cricket match played on it in 3 years

I say this as a genuine Cricket fan - forget Lords with its self imposed pomp and air of superiority. It calls itself the home of cricket and it is lovely, but the best cricket ground in London is The Oval. Get yourself down there, and you might get to see a game too. A tour is ok… a game is better

This just further proves how difficult an idea this is to implement in cricket; the reasonable desire to get substitutions to work is bumping up against the nuances of a game that involves players with a variety of specialist skills that pass through a variety of states of energy across the 4/5 days

Inspired in part by @rodger.bsky.social: Cricket's halls of power full of awful people and systems that want to convince us that they are the only way forward, eager to shape the game for their own wealth/status/ideology. But they only win if we let them make us miserable.

Our Joy Will Endure
Cricket is full of dysfunction and ego and people trying to make us miserable. The ones who thrive in spite of that will live forever.

Is there somewhere that will allow me to put cast faces to their voices and characters? I need a visual frame of reference because adding their names confuses me too much. I realise this is a shortcoming, however I think I’m too old for it to change significantly.

An Oxford college ruining a local amenity for its own agenda?? Oxford is essentially owned by the University; its residents are just beneficiaries of their generosity in allowing us to live here.
