Roseanne Barr has quietly filmed a new sitcom with Randy Quaid, Drea de Matteo, Jon Lovitz, Tony Hinchcliffe, and more about “a mixed-race family of preppers.”
Titled Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable, the series follows their quest to throw the “most fantastic bat mitzvah Texas has ever seen.”

I cannot describe the brokenness I felt reading this from the Haaretz piece. The hostages were betrayed by everyone; Israeli leaders, the diaspora leaders & their orgs, the entire pro-Israel industrial complex, and by far and away the millions of people who cried "hostages" to support a genocide.
"He told me that in the first stage, they had no problem releasing all civilians without anything in return," Mashharawi recounts. "I swear, those were his exact words: all civilians, without anything in return. They had only one condition: They wanted us to bring in an agreed-upon mediator as quickly as possible, so that negotiations could immediately begin over everything else – the release of soldiers and officers in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and then the issue of the blockade on Gaza."

These people are ridiculous. The Hebrew they are referring to is a quote from the Torah, "צֶ֥דֶק צֶ֖דֶק תִּרְדֹּ֑ף" ("Justice, justice, shall you pursue"). Some people want actual justice, others just want Jews to erase every part of our peoplehood, including our Torah. In the name of progressivism. So gross.

This reminds me of this section from Philip Slater’s “The Pursuit of Loneliness” The passage is about individualism but imo the same logic applies to our relationship to technology. We have created our issues through over-reliance on tech, and we then think the answer is more tech.
erated not have to fight them
so Vigo pecularly exaggerated hostility that hippies tend to arouse suggests that the life they strive for is highly seduc-
tive to middle-aged Americans.
The intensity of this reaction can in part be attributed to a kind of circularity that characterizes American individualism. When a value is as strongly held as is individualism in America the illnesses it produces tend to be treated by increasing the dosage, in the same way an alcoholic treats a hangover or a drug addict his withdrawal symptoms. Technological change, mobility, and the individualistic ethos combine to rupture the bonds that tie each individual to a family, a community, a kinship network, a geographical location-bonds that give him a comfortable sense of himself. As this sense of himself erodes, he seeks ways of affirming it. But his efforts at self-enhancement automatically accelerate the very erosion he seeks to halt.
It is easy to produce examples of the many ways in which Americans attempt to minimize, circumvent, or deny the interdependence upon which all human societies are based. We seek a private house, a private means of transportation, a private garden, a private laundry, self-service stores, and do-it-yourself skills of every kind. An enormous technology seems to have set itself the task of making it unnecessary for one human being ever to ask anything of another in the course of going about his daily business. Even within the family Americans are unique in their feeling that each member should have a separate room, and even a separate tele-phone, television, and car, when economically possible. We seek more and more privacy, and feel more and more alienated and lonely when we get it. What accidental contacts we do have, furthermore, seem more intrusive, not only because they are unsought but because they are unconnected with any familiar pattern of interdependence.

Director of Marketing at a company describes how the entire marketing team has been replaced by AI. He is the only person left of a 12 person team. This is INSANE.

Vent: Thanks to ai, I'm about to become the sole marketer for a $100M/ year business.
Support
l've been with the company 6 years. Director level.
Originally copywriting.
Three years ago, we had 11 people in non-operations Marketing roles: product, solution, partner, demand gen, and field marketers, a multimedia manager, a head of PR/Comms, and a CMO. (The technical and ops roles have stayed relatively steady. We still have a web engineer/manager, database, and graphics.)
We lost 2 people to layoffs last year, 3 people have left that we haven't backfilled, and last month came The Big Ai Layoff. That layoff impacted 6 team members, including the CMO. That left just me and one campaign director for all content, messaging and strategy. She just put in her 3-week notice and it doesn't sound like we're getting a backfill anytime soon.

There is a lot wrong with this, but let's start with this: if you claim to be progressive, Jewish or not, antisemitism is indeed your problem. It hurts movements. It divides allies. It has people focusing on Jews instead of those actually responsible. Even if not for Jews' sakes, it's a problem!
EL: I think first of all, we need to put aside the question of antisemitism. I’m sorry to push this comparison again, but I think we are there: There was anti-Germanism—even Jews were attacked because they were Germans. And, sure, we should condemn it. It was a problem. But it’s not the problem, and it’s not our problem. Our problem is that Judaism today has for some groups become an ideology of genocide. We need to face that now; any moral understanding of Judaism needs an immediate response to that. Are you working to stop the genocide? And what are you doing to stop it?
29613
Elad Nehorai @eladn.bsky.social · 09/04/2026
This is... just wild. The claim is that if you are Jewish, you essentially *deserve* antisemitism directed at you. The reason? Enough Jews and institutions supported the genocide that it is... logical I guess... to assume you are pro-genocide unless you actively repute it. Just nonsense.
Here we’re talking not about circumcision, but genocide in Gaza. And I think today, we may be reaching the end of the ability to say, “I’m Jewish, but I have nothing to do with Israel.” There is a state that is committing horrible acts in the name of being Jewish. Now if someone found out, for example, that your grandfather was Jewish, and starts calling you out on Gaza, that seems akin to racism, because it really has nothing to do with you. But if you identify as Jewish, and are doing things in the world as a Jew in a moment when Jewishness is being used to enact genocide, then you cannot say it’s antisemitic or racist to associate you with it, because you’re associating yourself with it. As Jews, we are called today to take a position.

The broken logic here is striking, and it's just as fallacious as when Jewish feelings of fears of antisemitism are considered proof of a rise in antisemitism. This is Lapidot's own thoughts, not the people he imagines are thinking them. And then he uses it as his proof for his points.
Elad Lapidot: The argument I’m trying to make is that the current crisis is not primarily about hostility toward Jews, but about transformations within Judaism as a political formation. I’ll start with an anecdote: My partner and I were hiking recently on an international trail in Spain. People passing each other on the trail would say hello in different languages. I was joking about the possibility of saying “shalom” to people. And it immediately became clear to both of us that today saying “shalom” would be provocative. I was thinking about how the word “shalom,” which is a nice word, a word of greeting, opening, peace, has become a marker of hate, in a sense. And then it dawned on me that there was a different but comparable process with the word “heil.” In German, it basically means holiness, peace, wholesomeness—good things. But it became the word for evil. You would not utter it today, in Germany or anywhere. And the comparison between these two words was very heavy, but it was there. It was not an intellectual process. It was kind of an instinctive feeling.

Elad Nehorai @eladn.bsky.social · 09/04/2026
Much of the Jewish left is naive about antisemitism, especially when they pin it only on Israel's actions (and here, "Jews"). Israel matters. So do weaponized accusations. But antisemites have spent a decade building a system, and Israel is one way they exploit it. This thinking erases that.
Daniel May: In the preface to your book State of Others: Levinas and Decolonial Israel, you write, “The center of the unfolding catastrophe is not antisemitism, if that term means, as it should, anti-Jewish racism, the attribution of imaginary vices to individuals because of their Jewish descent. Today’s growing anti-Jewish sentiment would be better described as anti-Judaism, or anti-Jewishness, which is hostility to what Jewish people, as such, actually do. But the deep crisis of the hour does not arise primarily from sentiments toward Jews. Rather, it arises from what is currently being done in the name of Judaism.” There’s a lot to unpack in this claim, which is extremely helpful but also extremely provocative. Let’s start there.

From a piece I wrote about how every death is not a "death" but a murder. And how the conditions have been purposefully created to cause massive suffering, including but not in any sense limited to systemic murder.
All are in cramped conditions, with cells made for 66 housing 150. Others made for 6 hold 40. They sleep on the concrete floors, using their shoes as pillows. Lights are often on 24 hours a day (this is widely considered a form of torture). There is often only one toilet in the room for all the people, and it is filled with feces (which can also amount to torture).

Across the country, detention camps are known for purposefully making the facilities as cold as possible. Their food and water is often contaminated. They do not receive enough of either. Disease spreads as a matter of due course.

Medical care is denied as a standard practice. A diabetic woman is denied insulin, then has to be hospitalized. A man who is sick is told he is “faking it” and eventually discovers he has Tuberculosis. On and on.

When people inevitably undergo mental distress, they are put into solitary confinement. When they protest their conditions, they are beaten, flash grenades are thrown in their cells, and are often then moved to new facilities as punishment.

Women and transgender people in particular are regularly sexually abused, with reports of groping, forced oral sex, and more. Men are left shackled at times for entire days, sometimes either not given food or being forced to eat “like dogs” by sticking their faces into their plates. In many camps, they are engaged in forced labor. If they do not work, they may be punished with solitary confinement.

And, of course, there are the murders. While 8 people have been killed on the streets by ICE since Trump took power, 32 have died in ICE facilities. Most have died due to the purposeful medical neglect in the facilities, as well as suicide (again, due to purposeful mental health neglect). As well as actual murderous acts. But it’s all murder really.

Really interesting to read this passage warning Jews what would happen if they chose to have an authoritarian rule over them
And now, heed their voice, but be sure to warn them and tell them about the protocol of the king who will reign over them.
10 Samuel told all the words of HASHEM to the people who had requested a king of him. "He said, "This is the protocol of the king who will reign over you: He will take away your sons and place them in his chariots and cavalry, and they will run before his chariot; 1he will appoint for pr himself captains of thousands and captains of fifty, to plow his furrow and to reap his harvest, and to produce his implements of battle and the furnishings of his chariot. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfum-ers, cooks, and bakers. 14He will confiscate your best fields, vineyards, and olive trees, and present them to his servants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and vines, and present them to his officers and servants.
16 He will take your servants and maidservants and your best young men and your donkeys and press them into his service. ' He will take a tenth of your sheep, and you will be his slaves. 1On that day you will cry out because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves - but HASHEM will not answer you on that day."* 19 But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel. They said, "No! There shall be a king over us, 2 and we will be like all the other nations; our king will judge us, and go forth before us, and fight our wars!"* 21 Samuel heard all the words of the people and repeated them to HASHEM.
HASHEM told Samuel "Listen to their voice, and crown a king for

The way sitting politicians can say this stuff about Muslims while facing zero consequences is an indication of just how entrenched Islamophobia still is in our institutions and culture.

Congressman Brandon Gill

@RepBrandonGill
How many Americans have to get Allahu Akbar’ed before we realize Islam is a problem?

Good example of the way anti-trans hate and antisemitism continue to be intertwined in American discourse. Once more subtly, now far more overtly.

8 million views. 16,000 RTs. It's a new age. The combination of Gaza, Musk's buyout of X, and the Epstein Files is creating a perfect storm of antisemitic hate. This is why I warned people to focus less on Musk's antisemitism and more on the systemic issues his buyout caused.

Yesterday, The Sheriffs, MPD and law enforcement brutally put down a peaceful anti-ICE protest outside of the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis. There has been little to no coverage of what is happening in Minneapolis since Trump's supposed stand down, which is why we need to spread the word.
