FWIW I don’t think that AI is an existential threat, nor on track to become one. I do however think that the leaders of the biggest AI companies, AI’s strongest boosters, and some of the folks who are most adept at using it to exploit others are actively hastening along OTHER existential threats.

Praise be, it lived. Used an exacto knife and bent the pins back into place. After a bit of wiggling in the socket, it seated properly and booted without issue once I remembered to plug power into the GPU

What the fuck is this, Apple? This is explicitly against the rules you have for the App Store (4.5.4 to be exact). Not to mention you’ve partnered with a predatory financier while killing the better, existing program. If you’ve been working on ways to get me to stop buying your shit, it’s working.

A push notification from the Apple Store app. It is a blatant advertisement for their new device leasing program where they’ve partnered with Klarna, the predatory leasing company. The notification reads:

“Introducing Apple Upgrade
Lease the products you love with pocket-friendly payments and terms that work for you.
Terms apply.”
