I feel bad for the people who live in the alternate universe where FOX doesn't exist. Because if Jim Carrey didn't gain fame on In Living Color, it's possible he may never have been cast as Robotnik. Who knows? Maybe Ugly Sonic was never redesigned either! Scary.

Not mentioned in this article: What do America's Most Wanted and American Dad have in common? No, it's not the "America" in their titles. These are the two rare examples of FOX shows that have been cancelled by the network, lived on elsewhere, and later returned to FOX.

Not mentioned in this article: Fastlane. My favorite FOX series that nobody watched.

Not mentioned in this article: in case you were wondering if Toonami host Tom has a son, his name is Cleatus and he is the mascot for Fox NFL Sunday.

Luring Pat Summerall and John Madden away from CBS was one of FOX's greatest success stories but NFC newcomers Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long were already picking up the mantle as the single most entertaining duo in football sportscasting history with a similar dynamic.

Not mentioned in this article: another thing you can thank FOX for. Michael Jackson performed during the Super Bowl halftime show in 1993 partly in response to the In Living Color counterprogramming stunt the following year as a way to draw bigger viewership numbers.

Not mentioned in this article: when Disney acquired the assets of 21st Century Fox in 2019 that did not include the FOX network because they already own ABC and that would have been an antitrust violation. Fox Corporation has owned FOX since 2019 (along with Fox News and Tubi).

At a time in history when it feels like the entertainment industry is becoming smaller because of studios buying each other and merging together, I think it’s worth remembering and celebratin…

In this article I write about the launch of the TV network FOX, how it became a serious threat to NBC, CBS and ABC and how it changed the landscape of television and pop culture with shows like The Simpsons and The X-Files. ejunkieblog.com/2026/10/09/t...
