Another stupid hit piece regarding California high speed rail project which was started under a R Governor. This was followed by various R grifters suing to get monetary awards which delayed progress. They actually ignore a section of right away that is currently being used on a daily basis.

CAHSR is expensive, but its high price tag is largely a function of being a huge project. Per-mile costs compare favorably to other domestic transit projects - transit in the US costs 3x the global average to build!

Trump is once again proposing to destroy Alcatraz — a globally popular tourist attraction — by wasting billions to turn it into some sort of prison gulag. It’s an absurd, idiotic idea, a complete waste of taxpayer money, and yet another sign of Trump’s dementia. Back off.

There will never be a coalition between Marxists and Liberals. Any Marxist promises of alliance or compromise are only intended to disguise the blade they intend to drive into your back. It's entirely about removing obstacles to power, and Liberals are little more than just another obstacle for them

This is not a drill. Absent stable long-term funding, Caltrain, like BART, will crater & potentially shut down entirely. Muni will reduce service by as much as 50%. We can avoid this disaster for the Bay Area by passing two funding measures on the ballot in November: …

First weekend service goes, then stations close: Caltrain maps a path toward possible shutdown
In a plan set to go before board members, staff conjured a future as bleak as the one BART presented last month, with stations potentially mothballed and stretches of track left empty.

Anyone who has supported Ukraine throughout the last 4 years already knows what Jacobin is. In the communities that raise money for Ukraine and support volunteers, that magazine and the people who write for it, are at this point seen as a part of the propaganda wing of the enemy forces.

I think the whole logic of the U.S. “checks and balances“ system would work a lot better if we had multiple parties. That way, if one of them gets an unhinged President into office, the Congress isn’t paralyzed enough by that party’s obstruction efforts to implode. The checks can actually balance.
