Nor is it an issue of the past. While the Trump admin appears more focused on interior enforcement + deportations, people con't to cross -- and they continue to die within sight of surveillance. Plus, record levels of funding to DHS in 2025, is set to triple the # of towers in coming years.

And this isn't an isolated issue; 2/3of all of the towers (600+) that we analyzed had at least 1 death within their advertised range - and many had far more than that. (You can see a map of the towers and deaths in our story. )

I know when it’s your kid you’ll employ any and all methods to ensure they’re safe when they leave the house but an existential consequence of starting children early on surveillance is their increasing acceptance of more surveillance as adults and we’re all gonna have to reckon with that.
