Health update: I met with a specialist finally (yay!) and started on a medication to address my newly diagnosed MCAS. Overall, I'm feeling much better. I have to take it four times a day which takes a bit of bookkeeping, but worth it. I'm still cranky, but maybe a little less so. 🤣 Maybe.

It's *not* a TTRPG designer but a collectable plush toy designer that I have been supporting for about a decade. I've even met them. It feels like they've grown past what they can handle and their backers are paying the price, which takes the joy out of their product at the end.

Health update: pneumonia has turned to bronchitis and I now have RSV too. August is just giving me the biggest "f you" it can muster. I'm 3 ER trips in and it's only the 18th. Anyway, my boys are being snuggly. Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day a day late.

I should add that I am not a doctor, please follow your doctor's orders when sick especially with something as serious as pneumonia. This is in addition to the medications I have been taking that aren't quite cutting it to control the cough at night. Also it's delicious.

I have combination ADHD. It just looks different in me than in pre-adolescent cis boys. I'm also curious when we will examine neurodivergency in trans kids and adults as well, as I've noticed that's a big venn diagram. There's so much we don't know because it's not been taken seriously in the past.

I probably would have gotten help with my comorbid conditions much earlier had more research been done on AFAB people with ADHD. Now I live with chronic pain, bad joints, and a slew of other complications. Plus I'd likely have gotten my degree sooner had it been taken seriously.

I don't have the spoons to read this article at the moment, but I will say that while I was diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school, I was medically gaslit into thinking it didn't impact my life beyond "a little daydreaming" (words from a school administrator that unfortunately stuck).

I'm now waiting to be seen by an MCAS specialist to treat that as well. While I adore my job teaching kids about STEM careers this summer, I am being forced to acknowledge that I'm not really in a position to work full time anymore, especially not with any physical demands.

I completed my field school requirements in the dept museum lab, and graduated summa cum laude. And then the science world fell into chaos when the orange menace returned to power the following month and funding was stopped. Jobs became hard to find, and my health has continued to deteriorate.

I was sent home from pedestrian survey after a POTS attack sent my heart rate over 150 bpm. I almost passed out when removing topsoil from a new unit. My fellow students wouldn't even let me lift buckets to screen. It was heartbreaking. I'd waited my whole life for this and my body said no.

I was diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos and POTS about fourteen months before graduation after years of soft tissue injuries, surgeries, and other symptoms. Field school was both the most wonderful academic experience and one of the hardest medical experiences of my life.

Family tried to dissuade me, and I tried other majors in college but couldn't stand them. I flourished in anthropology, even though school as a whole was a struggle with ADHD and medical gaslighting. I dropped out several times but always went back with my dream firmly fixed in my mind.
