- by-and-large LLMs are a net negative because most people *are* irresponsible, whatever benefits it has - reasonable people are using it to measurably good effect to make things you probably don't realize affect you - yelling at people on the internet does not solve the polycrisis of this moment

- reasonable to not want to use software that was built with AI assistance - vibe coded slop is not the same as ai assisted engineering - parasites have exploited open source code before AI and are greatly empowered to do so by it - witch hunting doesn't fix anything

these things can all be true at once: - demoralizing to working professionals to be forced to use - genuinely useful in the hands of an experienced SWE - slop code/documentation is noticeably garbage - people who don't make software professionally are speaking *very* confidently about my day job

microsoft refusing to introduce a VK_EXT_shader_object - like graphics pipeline model to direct3d 12 and instead leaning on "advanced shader delivery" is an indictment of the priorities of that organization and its complete disinterest in the gaming segment imo

Onboarding had issues, but the game has high expectations of the player and I massively respect that after getting past the original misgivings I had. It's relatable. More games need to expect more from players, and Marathon really wasn't asking for that much.
