The hoops they wanted him to jump through at such a young age. I can’t imagine my own daughter being able to navigate a long bus journey out of the area to new accommodation - especially without a smart phone. And they were rude to me trying to help him.

Tried to help a 13yo ‘Craig’ once - saw him on the street. Rang my editor to take the rest of the day off. Went back and forth between the Croydon council office and the youth services office. Eventually got him a place. Had to get him a bus pass. But he lost it - and he was back out on the street.

Difficult to avoid spoilers on #Adolescence It reminds us the biggest risk to women & girls health isn’t blood pressure or obesity, it’s men & boys Misogyny harms more women in the UK & globally than terrorism & organised crime Yet misogyny itself isn’t even a criminal offence

Kemi Badenoch - Embroidery upon fabrication, it’s difficult to know what to unpick first. She sounds ‘reasonable’ but this is spin, debating technique, and political cynicism. Oh, and suddenly she has nothing to do with the previous Conservative administration?

Health isn’t just a personal choice - it’s shaped by the world around us. To create real change, we need to make it a shared priority. It’s time to “make health everybody’s business”. substack.com/home/post/p-...

What if we made health 'everyone's business'

No shit. I started in exercise, health & fitness in 2007 - we were already told about this decline: ▶️ A continuous lack of efficacy amongst all the recommendations & guidelines. ❗ Everyone in the health system is at fault. Here is how we messed up & how real preventive health pros knew:

There are more than 15,000 species of fungi in the UK, and they play a vital role in healthy ecosystems. But fungi - like all life on earth - rely on healthy soil. Help save soil with these tips: bit.ly/3ULsOhO #biodiversity #organic #wildlifegarden

“When people get ill, which they inevitably will, it’s vital that they aren't forced to choose between making ends meet and the health of those around them." Research by @progressivechange.bsky.social shows that 1 in 10 sick workers returned to work while unwell. 🔗 www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...

So many people would die though. Humans are messy and complicated and we need to truly talk/discuss/debate with respect for one another. That’s how public opinion changes. Usually crises only benefit big business.

Or perhaps that’s what they need to focus on? Politics is about bringing in change. The benefits to both men and women of full equality are wide ranging and multiple. Honest, open debate would be refreshing

Sexism and internalised sexism probably played a big role. US has never had a female president, and in this day and age that says a lot.

It is exhausting having to research and figure out everything from black plastics to best ventilation practices to COVID vaccine schedules, I know this is a wild idea but have we thought about creating publicly funded government bodies that could manage and regulate this stuff on our behalf

If you could find a way to group block (rather than individually) only fans type accounts from following you that would be amazing. Perhaps those accounts that are following literally thousands and only have a few followers?

We're losing wildlife. Frogs, butterflies, bumblebees, hedgehogs, moths, bats, insects, birds are all declining. But if more of us take positive actions for biodiversity in our gardens, communities, landscapes and towns, we can help nature bounce back. Who's in?
