Spent all day listening to KMHD today for Coltrane’s 100th. What an astonishing career, he didn’t just dent the universe he caved a whole side of it in.

If you have time and nothing to do, would strongly consider going to sky lagoon for a bit. Pretty close to airport and great way to relax and kill time. We went there straight from our overnight flight to rejkavik.

I buy a good amount of records, there are very few that jump to the front of the line for immediate listening, this is one of those, and it's just so freaking good. Rich Ruth and Alison de Groot (and Spencer Cullum) crushed this. Really hope this gets a tour and the tour includes the PNW.

Saw all six sets at Big Ears last year, up there with my top top shows of all time.

010

Eggzacktly @eggzacktly.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

SML sets are some of the best shows I have seen in my life, they are on just a completely different level. Otherworldly.

Eggzacktly @eggzacktly.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

Yep I am so psyched for it. He will be at big ears with an ensemble, hoping it’s the same way in Portland. Will be at both.

Folks, if you’re wondering what this crazy road show we’re doing for THE DOLPHIN AMBASSADOR’S DAUGHTER sounds like, here’s me reading with Barry Walker Unit (alter ego of @rosecityband.bsky.social) in PDX Friday. Ripley says it’s like the Rolling Thunder Revue. Rolling Ocean Revue? Flippers up!

A great (and telling) thing about the Big Ears festival - you can have 100 people who are over the moon psyched about the lineup, and all 100 have vastly different artists on their "must-see" lists.

062

Eggzacktly @eggzacktly.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

I also had resigned myself to no SML this year at Big Ears, figured they would move on to other things, but am psyched they will be there, the JJ/Lumsdaine/Anna trio for new Josh Johnson should be amazing, the Dave Harrington/IA crossover stuff, etc etc etc.

000

Eggzacktly @eggzacktly.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

Big Ears lineup is like if my "most listened to albums from 2026" came to life. They really do just knock the lineup out of the park every single year.

The Friday show should be a trip, its a book release party, and I think they are going to play underneath the author as he reads excerpts, at least for a bit. I am here for the non-traditional weird Unit show lol.

Eggzacktly @eggzacktly.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Also check out Barry Walker, he is great. (Plays with the Barry Walker Unit and Rose City Band, was part of the North Americans also). And if you like ambient, Chuck Johnson’s Balsams and Luke Schneider are both great.

Cole Pulice and Gigi Masin tonight. So, so good.

Stage of first Congregational church in Portland is set up for Cole Pulice and Gigi Masin, show presented by Age of Reflections. Much more colorful with the lights off and the projections going!
