I can only imagine the marketing meeting where they decided to name their new product VAMPIRE. “This new truck needs to reflect our brand values: immortal, bloodsucking, and afraid of daylight”

Normal Airport Ads: Drink Coca-cola! Eat McDonalds! Earn status points! Buy an iPhone! Ads at DCA: In the market for a new tank? No? How about a Cylon Raider?
Photo of a black wall-mounted advertisement in an airport concourse. Large white text reads "BUILT FULL-MISSION CAPABLE" next to the orange and white Keel logo. Smaller text below says "Systems That Detect, Defend and Defeat by Keel." The image shows a tan M1 Abrams-style battle tank on red dirt in front of a pine forest. The URL keelusa.com is at the bottom. Enjoy your flight!Photo of a backlit airport advertisement above a "B C D E Gates" sign. The Shield AI logo sits over the headline "The World's First AI-Piloted VTOL Fighter Jet." The render shows three dark, delta-winged aircraft standing tail-down on launch stands and trailers, lit by glowing floodlights against a starry night sky. Text at the bottom reads "Learn more @ shield.ai." This is essentially a real-life Cylon Raider from Battlestar Galactica, it’s just missing the red eye. So say we all!

i think something simpler, less divisive, and more likely to be impactful is to destroy the "founder-king" through corporate stock holding reforms

There is something so unique & beautiful about baseball. It evokes a strong feeling of nostalgia while also providing a sense of comfort, normalcy, & routine in a world that has gotten so hectic. To have a voice to your summer is a blessing. It has no equal in sports & we are so lucky to have it.

MLB signs more international players from the Dominican Republic than any other country. Despite widespread acknowledgement that Dominican baseball needs to be overhauled, the industry has only gotten worse. Read the full story:

How the Dominican Baseball Factory Traps Young Players and Their Families With False Promises
Teams make handshake deals with players as young as 11 while moneylenders prey on their families. The industry is corrupt, but Major League Baseball and the players union have done little about it.

There’s always something poetic about the last day of the season. Summer, along with its frivolous daily entertainment, is officially over.

This is great. Despite the lost season, the Mets have never looked aimless under Green in the way that they would for weeks at a time under Mendoza.

It’s still a great program. Socks are everywhere and there are fewer broken bikes than in the past, but these prices feel targeted at a white collar population and not the broader population the program was supposed to serve

Citibike prices in NYC have gone through the roof! I’ve spent nearly as much on day passes the last 3 days as my annual pass cost a decade ago.

My take is that having a Muslim immigrant preside over ceremonies commemorating 9/11 in New York City is one of the beautiful things about America.

I don’t want to sound negative. I think this is a vastly improved use of that space and a beautiful entrance to the neighborhood. I just expected something different and am a little disappointed.

I think Potomac Yard benefits from the splash area being sandwiched between two playgrounds though. My kids will bounce between the two.

Brian @egan.ninja · 10/09/2026
Ok, this makes sense and I love a neighborhood common space. But it feels like they could have split the difference somewhat or used removable equipment. I just don’t see it being a summer destination for kids as-is.

I’ve only lived here a few years. What caused the hold up? Was there an active anti-play equipment contingent?

I love having a new splashpad, but did the city explain the lack of anything beyond fountains? Most local spraygrounds have stuff to keep kids engaged like tilting buckets, rotating sprinklers, spray tables, misters, etc..

The Last of the Mohicans. 1760s. British New York. The French & Indian War and the temptation of westward expansion combine to create a nascent American identity which has no place for our main characters. Set to the soundtrack from the 1992 movie.

I spoke with the crews from the water company. A main broke under this intersection. Water is turned off for this stretch of W. Alx tonight, but should be restored by the morning.
