At that point, my phone started baaing with your recordings of sheep, and then my sheep began baaing, as if they were saying hello from Indiana to the sheep in England. The sheep went back into their paddock, and I continued about my morning. A fun start to the day.

The sheep had taken a mile from the inch I gave them and jumped over the netting. Half of the flock were grazing along the driveway, and without turning off the podcast, I grabbed my phone, stuck it in my pocket, and trotted to the netting to get the sheep back in.

@noswpod.bsky.social I listened to Evensong of the Wild this morning on my way to the farm and really enjoyed the bird song. After taking care of the livestock, I started up the episode again and began to pull out of the driveway. But it turned out I'd forgotten to turn the electric fence on again.

My org's agriculture tour of southeastern South Dakota is shaping up to have a really cool agenda. Banquet menu is dynamite and our keynote is fighter pilot Kim "KC" Campbell, who flew an A-10 Thunderbolt that was shot over Baghdad. She's one of the only people to land the plane in manual mode.

After a few lambing seasons of having a majority ram lambs, we have had mostly ewes born this year, which will rejuvenate our Shetland flock. This ewe lamb was born yesterday to an excellent mother, one of my favorite ewes.

There was an F-1 tornado that touched down south of us, so we had strong winds and thunderstorms. Fortunately, no damage to our farm. A church neighbor's barns and sheds were destroyed. No one got hurt.

With feels-like temps at -8 F last night and real at 0 F this morning, there was ice to break in the stock tanks. Last year, we began using multiple small tanks instead of one big tank. That helped keep the water liquid for longer. Doing that again this year. So far, so good! #agsky #farming

Mia the Sheepdog-in-Training. Her abilities are fascinating. During the photo shoot, she heard or saw something I couldn't hear or see and so looked off into the distance the whole time. She learns commands quickly, too, and it's fun working on new tasks with her.
