Some great stuff on at Reading/Leeds (eg Geese) but I’ve figured out why I’m nonplussed by a lot of it. When there were grassroots venues by the score (Adelphi in Hull, Fibbers in York, Charlotte in Leicester etc), bands like this were commonplace. Now they’re on a festival stage already.

We need to re-energise the arts. Make it more grassroots and authentic. I don’t really care where people honed their craft but I’d love to hear more stories of acts developing a local scene after meeting at school. Broaden the spectrum and influences. Create more variety in music and the arts.
