Overall Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an experience like no other. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry and it will make you appreciate just how amazing video games can truly be. It’s a masterpiece that will be very hard to top and I cannot wait to see how the story ends in Part 3! (13/13)

There is so much to love about this game and I’ve enjoyed taking screenshots in the photo mode more than ever! In fact all the posts featured in this thread were all taken by me in Photo Mode during my Rebirth playthrough! (12/13)

There are so many iconic moments it’s hard to list them all but here’s a select few, Rufus’s inauguration parade, Queen’s Blood tournament on the Shinra-8, Costa Del Sol sunset, GOLD SAUCER, Gongaga reactor, River of Lights in Cosmo Canyon, Loveless Play and Skywheel Date. (11/13)

Also the music. OMG THE MUSIC! This game’s soundtrack is utterly GOD TIER. There so many genres and so many different styles all crammed into one game! From orchestral music to country, hip hop RnB to Rock, Jazz to Lo-Fi chill beats, Tekken grunge to J-Pop! This game’s soundtrack has it all! (10/13)

The combat system which was excellent in Remake has been refined and perfected in Rebirth! Synergy Skills and Synergy Abilities add so much more to combat scenarios and give you new unique ways to do team up attacks with your party that can aid you in different ways! (9/13)

Speaking of minigames, this game is full of them! From dolphin shows to parade formations, piano recitals to G-bike, chocobo racing to moogle roundups and so much more! This game has the most minigames I’ve ever played and each one is so much fun! (8/13)

My favourite side quest is Absence of a Sign. What could be better than going on a star gazing photography trip around Cosmo Canyon with Aerith! 📸✨ (7/13)

In terms of the open world, there is so much to see and do. From doing odd jobs for Chadley, helping out the residents of the world with side quests or taking in a match (or two!) of the most addictive minigame, Queen’s Blood, there’s always a new secret to discover in every nook and cranny. (6/13)

But of course I’m forgetting someone special. @itsbrianawhite.bsky.social Aerith Gainsborough. FFVII Rebirth was Aerith’s game and it shows. Briana’s performance in this game was like nothing I’d ever seen before. She made me laugh, she made me cry and she made me fall in love with Aerith. (5/13)

In terms of the story, it’s a timeless classic retold for a new generation to experience. Everything has its own little moment to shine. There’s some slight alterations and changes, this is a remake after all, but they’re nothing too major and a pleasant update to the story for a modern age. (3/13)

This game truly is a masterpiece. From the first moment of the prologue, this game sucked me in like nothing else and took over my entire year. I loved Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth is a continuation of the story that was well worth the wait! #FinalFantasy (2/13)

🧵Okay, it’s time to talk about my favourite game of 2024. #videogames It’s hard to put into words how utterly exceptional this experience was but I’m going to try. This game surpassed every expectation I had and in doing so it became my favourite game of all time. My No. 1 game of 2024 is… (1/13)

2. Astro Bot The most creative and innovative experience I’ve played in a long time. Team Asobi crafted a very special game celebrating 30 years of PlayStation history, made with so much passion, care and joy, you can’t help smiling the whole way through! It’s endlessly charming! 10/11

3. Thank Goodness You’re Here! My favourite indie game of 2024! @coalsupper.bsky.social created something special featuring tons of British humour and amazing animation! It’s the funniest game I’ve ever played! Plus Matt Berry is in it! What’s not to love! Reggie’s wife could learn something! 9/11

4. Life is Strange Double Exposure @decknine.bsky.social brought back Max Caulfield and I was so glad to see her again! This murder mystery had me intrigued through every twist and turn. The ending left a lot to be desired for me but I have faith that wherever deck nine goes, I’ll be there. 8/11

5. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden @focus-entmt.com and @dontnod.bsky.social created a choice based, action RPG set in 1800s America that was a creepy witchcraft adventure for the ages. Red and Antea made for a great team/couple however I found the combat was a bit fiddly to get to grips with. 7/11

6. Harold Halibut @slowbros.bsky.social created a masterful hand crafted experience that’s unlike anything I’ve played. A wholesome point and click story featuring quirky characters, wonderful environments and some excellent humour to boot! However I do think it lasts a little bit too long. 6/11

7. The Star Named EOS A wonderful photography puzzle game from Silver Lining Studio and @playismen.bsky.social featuring an emotional story, wonderful voice acting from @suzieyeung.bsky.social and a beautiful art style as well. It’s a short but sweet experience that’s perfect to relax with. 5/11

8. Still Wakes The Deep A tense horror experience from Secret Mode and @thechineseroom.co.uk that blends lovecraftian elements into a game set on a Scottish oil rig in the 1970s/80s and it really makes you question your sanity of ever going out at sea again. It’s unsettling and it’s brilliant. 4/11

9. The Plucky Squire A charming adventure from All Possible Futures and @devolverdigital.com with a wonderful 2D to 3D style that allowed for a really unique experience however the amount of bugs and glitches really put a damper on what was otherwise a solid game. 3/11

10. Nobody Wants To Die Think 1920s Bioshock meets Cyberpunk/Blade Runner and you’ve got a detective mystery worth solving! Critical Hit Games created a wonderful indie game that took us on a unique noir style case like no other. My only complaint, I wish there were more action moments. 2/11

🧵Well here they are, my top 10 video games of 2024! To start, I want to give 2 honourable mentions to Silent Hill The Short Message and Open Roads. I found them both to be enjoyable in their own ways but they weren’t good enough to make my list. Alright now that’s out of the way, let’s begin! 1/11

1. Alan Wake 2 Night Springs One of the most creative uses for a DLC I’ve ever seen. 3 playable characters, 3 stories, 3 different styles all done in a twilight zone anthology and each one is a joy to play! @remedygames.com pulled off a masterpiece and I keep wanting to go back for more! 5/6

2. Stray Gods Orpheus A wonderful epilogue to an incredible musical adventure that shines a spotlight on one of the main game’s least explored characters. Orpheus get his chance to start again and it’s a heartfelt story with new songs that’ll be stuck in your head long after you’re finished. 4/6

Okay now onto the official list! 3. Final Fantasy XVI The Rising Tide Beautiful and gorgeous expansion that gave us a new chunk of Valisthea to explore, new side quests, new bosses, new combat abilities and more story for Clive and Co. Also the music beautifully composed by Masayoshi Soken! 3/6

First off I want to give an honourable mention to Alan Wake 2 The Lake House. A brilliant DLC that mixed elements of Control with the psychological horror of Alan Wake 2 and as a tide over to Control 2, it was amazing. My only problem is that I wish it went deeper and explored more than it did. 2/6

Overall, Briana played the role like no one else could. She redefined this iconic character for a whole new generation and became, in my opinion, the definitive voice of the flower girl from Midgar. Thank You Bri! You and Aerith will always have a special place in my heart! 💜 🌼 (7/7)

“This isn’t about me, though. It’s about saving the world - and you.” That line breaks me every time and Briana’s somber delivery emphasises both the sadness Aerith feels for what’s about to happen but also her acceptance that this might be the only way to save the world and Cloud. (6/7)

Then we come to the very scene that is the reason why Briana deserves the Best Performance accolade. This moment in Chapter 14 is performed so well and with so much emotion that it makes me cry every time I watch it. 😭😭😭 (5/7)

There are so many iconic moments Aerith has in both Remake and Rebirth. The first meeting in Sector 8, Sector 5 rooftop walk, Evergreen Park, Chaerith, Kalm clock tower, Costa Del Sol sunset, Gold Saucer date, Gongaga, River of Lights in Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim Water Tower, the list goes on! (3/7)

From the moment I first met Aerith in FFVII Remake, I knew that this character was going to be something special and sure enough Briana’s exceptional performance helped not only to bring Aerith to life but also to make her an iconic character that has become one of my all time favourites. (2/7)
