Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 22/07/2025After 20 years of disappointment, this lifelong Fantastic Four fan has gotten not just a good or great FF movie, but the PERFECT FF movie... so much to discuss that I'll save for my review. Best Marvel introduction movie since the first Guardians of the Galaxy. 091

Here's my review of #CaptainAmericaBraveNewWorld that mostly receives a mixed-negative review cause I was pretty disappointed, not cause it was necessarily bad. YMMV as they say in the olden days of the internet: open.substack.com/pub/edwarddo...open.substack.comCAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD REVIEW“What should have been used to set up a new era for the MCU, feels instead like things are moving backwards.” 020
Reposted by Edward DouglasRichard Newby @richardlnewby.bsky.social · 19/01/2025A very good Wolf Man movie delivered w/emotional sincerity. Doesn’t break the mold like Invisible Man, in part because we’ve seen plenty werewolf movies. Sidesteps conventions, design makes sense in context, sound is aces. Abbott is phenomenal -he’s got those sad Chaney Jr eyes. 7578

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 17/12/2024Oh, good... Titan Caskets is selling a smaller version of the Nosferatu casket for just $3,999. Probably not big enough to get buried in but maybe big enough for one's ashes? 000
Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 17/12/2024Welp, I was locked out of my X account 'cause I responded to a poll with a joking response, but it was deemed as hate speech. I won't go into details but essentially, I used time travel to give advice to my 18-year-old self. 120

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 03/12/2024James Mangold has done it again with A Complete Unknown, which actually works better than Walk the Line since it's focused more on just five years in Dylan's life... and mark my words, Chalamet will win that Oscar. 020
Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 02/12/2024How many people will go to see Paul Schrader's Oh, Canada, inadvertently thinking it's the new movie from the Trailer Park Boys. Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I'm having a bit of a moral quandry re: the new Marilyn Manson album. I used to be a pretty big fan, seen him live a few times, and I'm a fan of his musical collaborator Tyler Bates (who scored many of Ti West's movies), but I can't really forgive his treatment of Evan Rachel Wood, can I? 000
Reposted by Edward DouglasAlex Riviello @alexriviello.bsky.social · 24/11/2024Just watched this, and agree with Ed. Fantastic film about the housing crisis in NYC that’s remarkably infuriating, in showing how unfair and fucked up it is that people are having their lives and communities destroyed for $$$. You leave Slumlord Millionaire wanting to take to the streets. 011

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 17/11/2024Everyone will be talking about this coming weekend's box office in comparison to last year's "Barbenheimer"... but clearly Angel Studios is hoping that people will get confused and go see "Bonhoeffer" cause it kind of sounds like "Barbenheimer." 051
Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 17/11/2024I can't stress enough that the Latvian animated film Flow isn't one of the best animated films in decades, but it's also one of the best all-around films, probably going to be my #1 for the year. 193

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 16/11/2024I've lived in the Northeast for most of my life and NYC for 37 years, and I *still* can't get used to when November comes, and it suddenly gets really cold. Brrrrrr! 010

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 16/11/2024My first film of #DOCNYC was a doozy as Slumlord Millionaire was both brilliant and heartbreaking, and it hit very close to home cause the giant steel monstrosity built on the East River in my neighborhood replaced the affordable Pathmark that me and my neighbors relied on. 141

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 15/11/2024It's being reported that BlueSky got a million new users on Thursday alone. Here's hoping they have the infrastructure/servers to sustain it, as well as a way to monetize whatever upgrades will need to be made. 000

Edward Douglas @edouglasww.bsky.social · 13/11/2024Trump has selected Elon Musk for his "efficiency department" so I guess the first thing he'll do is rename the United States of America as just "U." 010
