It's an MTV simulator with almost 30,000 videos, organized by decade, with special sections for Headbanger's Ball and Yo! MTV Raps. This is so good.

My favorite bit of trivia I learned from the Pluribus podcast is that that was actually the real mayor of Albuquerque.

Absolutely stupid number of fantastic Playdate games here. If I may recommend some- Mars After Midnight (course); Escape the Arcade; Reflections: Nightingale; Under the Castle; Sketch, Share, Solve; Quest for the X; Pulpergeist; Castle Tintagel; and The Barkless Doctrine are all worth your money.

Sooooo…. since No Other Land doesn’t have distribution yet, who’s going to step up? (Also how often does a film win an Oscar without??)

If you have EVER enjoyed the ridiculous BIGFEETS podcast or the other work I've done in association with the comedy collective 1900HOTDOG, PLEASE READ. I've been asked to address some rumors about their operation, so here goes. Thread:

Saw The Monkey last night and am pretty sure I terrified the folks around me by cackling throughout. Thought an early screening would bring out more horror fanatics but everyone seemed unprepared and shocked at how gory it was. Super fun time in a theater!

My local library posted the top ten movies and tv shows lent out in 2024, and despite the presence of entries like Oppenheimer and The Holdovers, the number one pick of the year? IRREVERSIBLE. The suburbs are scary, folks

Saw the new LOTR film and it had trailers for Companion, Sonic 3, Minecraft, The Brutalist, Dog Man, and Mickey7. They really had no idea who the hell to market this to huh

Just watched this, and agree with Ed. Fantastic film about the housing crisis in NYC that’s remarkably infuriating, in showing how unfair and fucked up it is that people are having their lives and communities destroyed for $$$. You leave Slumlord Millionaire wanting to take to the streets.

Newsletter: Goldman Sachs has called BS on Generative AI, and I believe that it's time that everybody follows suit - generative AI is unreliable, unsustainable, requires an entire rebuild of America's power grid, and is most decidedly not the future. www.wheresyoured.at/pop-culture/

Rewatching the Child’s Play movies and forgot that they switched Chucky’s origin from “serial killer performed voodoo to save his life” to “disgruntled Vietnamese factory worker removed a doll’s safeguards via code” in the remake and honestly? Not sure which is sillier

I have a Steam Deck and an XSX yet spend most of my time cranking away at (and obsessing over) this little thing. Really believe that the Playdate has ignited the creativity of developers like nothing else- there’s just so much cool shit being made for it. Now where’s that dock @play.date?

I watched the first three Prophecy films this week (there are FIVE!) and while the third is trash, the first two hold up surprisingly well! This is still one of Christopher Walken’s best lines- dude is having so much fun playing an archangel.
