I was rooting for the Liberty, but rumors of Olivia Miles demise are greatly exaggerated. She played like a rookie but her team wasn't looking great either. She's got a lot of winning left to do and you'd be silly to bet against her. #wnba

The NBA putting a franchise in Las Vegas is stupid. You can't use the Ace's as justification for the market. The Aces moved to Vegas in 18 and drafted A'ja in 18 to become an immediate dynasty. We have absolutely no idea what fandom will look like during a series of losing seasons there.

First, the "slowdown" while begging to be regulated. Then they blame the regulation for their lack of improvement. Then they drive up prices AND enshittify their product by shaping responses via paid promotion. Then we effectively have another shitty search engine that also can write broken code.

Anthropic and Open AI are slowing down because the don't have a viable path to generate enough revenue to sustain themselves. It has nothing to do with how capable, powerful or dangerous they are. They are desperately trying to cling to a mystic to keep clients and investors invested.

Shoutout to @howardbeck.bsky.social and @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social for being active on Blue Sky. It may seems silly, to single out two seemingly unrelated folks, but they both have followings in their respective fields, and they choose to use a platform that is less expansive but less corrupt.

I'm glad "enshitification" is entering the common vernacular. Hyper-capitalism ruins everything: Healthcare The Internet The Movie and Video Game Industries News Organizations Governments The Housing Market Small Business Food and Beverage The Justice System Sports And on and on...

My gaming all started when my Mom took away the NES because I wouldn't stop playing Mario Bros, but it really took off between 1997-2000. I'd guess these 9 games have absorbed more hours of my life than the rest of the games I've played combined.

Billionaires like sports for a number of reasons, but one of the major reasons is because they consider the brands (of the leagues and the teams) and the loyalty to said brands as nearly unbreakable. I think that's changing & are more fans are likely to tune out. Let's end the era of sports-washing.

Nneka Ogwumike for the next commissioner (if she wants it). She's obviously a savvy and capable leader who players respect. Her voice would be a powerful one. #wnba

Cancelled my Blazer Vision Account. Not interested in supporting Tom Dundon. Don't give a shit if it helps his narrative that the team would be better off somewhere else. I'll be back when ownership changes and/or we have 30 year commitment from the team to stay in Portland. #Werenothostages

I coordinate (and play) in adult recreational sports leagues and I'd very much like our basketball league to be sponsored by an online therapy provider like Better Help because there's about 5% of players that could really use a sign that maybe rec sports isn't an appropriate outlet for their rage.

What is going on with the lighting in Vancouver. Something to do with it being primarily a hockey arena? Why is it so damn dark. #wnba #portlandfire

Billionaires flipping teams are underestimating the PR value of stable and passionate ownership. People are willing to support a rich asshole, that genuinely cares about their City/Team.It becomes Their rich asshole. Fans wont be nearly as loyal to a series of owners who don't give a shit. #nba

I think we might see the Men's US professional sports economy bubble burst in the couple of years. We are in the stage where the money doesn't make any sense and the product (s) are no longer improving.

Adam Silver doesnt care about the NBA. Why does every team have 5 different Jerseys? Money! Why is the T.V. deal spread across 49 different services/channels. Money! Why are shady individuals with questionable financial backing buying up teams they couldnt give two shits about? Money! #nba

I am so bummed about professional sports right now. From right-wing ownership groups taking advantage of pump and dump capitalizim in the NBA to FIFA's straight up romantic relations with fascism, to the manufactured narratives being forced on the WNBA, to Bezos buying in to the EPL. THIS SUCKS.

Hey fellow middle-aged White guys, if you're a bball fan like me, you're probably getting tons of anti-black, anti-trans, anti-women coded WNBA videos algorithmically forced on you. Go ahead and skip those clips, they are stupid. Go to a game or watch on tv. It's so good. Great fans, great athletes.
