Factoid I just learned: 40 percent of college students nationwide are nontraditional adult learners. That means they’re over 21, veterans, parents, bounce-backs or otherwise different from the traditional 18-year-old immediate high school graduates.

Most authors who have been banned will tell you it’s a gruesome experience. Bookings drop off a cliff, sales are not enough to compensate, and in the era of social media, you are targeted by the worst humans with harassment and doxxing. This is not a good thing, despite how we used to joke about it.

This. Also, the primary training area for the trades has shifted to community colleges, which is still higher education. So maybe instead of putting trades against four-year degrees, we should simply be acknowledging that education for almost everything is necessary beyond high school.

As anyone in publishing will tell you, women do not resist reading books by men, but men will often dismiss books by women. This is not a publishing problem or a failure to target men. It's a misogyny problem.

Okay, for the record? I wouldn’t bring a beverage of any kind to a job interview except maybe a water bottle that I’d discreetly leave in my wheelchair cupholder. Why? Not because of female oppression or whatever. Because slurping through a straw likely isn’t going to leave the best impression. 🤷🏻‍♀️

America had wiped out measles. Now babies are infected at birth.
Congenital measles has rarely been seen in the U.S. That’s changing as vaccination declines and more pregnant women become infected.
