Rewatching Star Trek: Picard season 2 is rough. It’s the most COVID show I can think of that came out during that time. Almost every scene is just two actors standing 6 feet apart.

I read the first two issues of Bride of Frankenstein Lives by @kellythompson.bsky.social and @mattiadeiulis.bsky.social. Takes place minutes after the movie ends and has a cool, original story, that works perfectly as a sequel. I love these movies and can’t wait to read the rest. FOC is this Monday!

Truly excellent season finale for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It really makes me wish the Year One show was going to happen.

I bought a fake Buffy prop. Not proud of that, but it happened. Since then, I’ve turned it into a signature book for people involved with the show or the comics. This weekend, I asked @beckycloonan.bsky.social to sign it. She instead took the time to make a Spike sketch. Highlight of the con.

Hey,Buffy and Angel comics fans! Artist Rebekah Isaacs has a new series out, Prima Apparata. I always want to support creatives that put out books that meant something to me. Issue #1 is on the stands now and I think it’s some of her best work.

Star Trek is a foundational franchise for me. I’ve loved it forever. But Jonathan Frakes going “Whoa, great beard” when I met him is a high. Thanks, Beard Daddy. Game recognizes game.

Just continuous bad news for the Buffy franchise. Between Dolly Parton's passing and the new comic being temporarily cancelled, nothing good has happened. This property is cursed.

People are upset about the puppet episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds? Ridiculous. Learn how to have some fun! My only gripe is the end where they chickened out of the whole scenario.

Big week for Carol Kane on TV. Her head fell off, she got shot out of a canon, turned into a puppet, and cut in half. It was split between It’s Always Sunny and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but that is one hell of a week.

This week’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has the crew going to an alien planet that’s inspired by 1940s Earth. I guess we’ll call it an homage to Jack Kirby, or just liberally taking from his idea.

Apologies, but this week's podcast is running late. Jarod had a work retreat, so we had to record a day later than normal. It's recorded and about twice as long as a normal one. I hate falling behind on our schedule, but I will have this up as soon as I can.

What kind of native New Yorker is living off Little Caesar’s cardboard pizza? What deal did they make to have it shown about 6 times in the first four minutes of Spider-Man: Terrible Taste in Pizza? There’s no truth in this art!

The Odyssey is wonderful, one of the most epic movies in years. But all these years later, Monty Python and the Holy Grail still pulls the rug out from movies. Between “Run Away, run away!” and “It’s only a flesh wound,” it’s still satirizing modern films.

Here’s a reminder on Mel Brooks’ 100th birthday that Dracula: Dead and Loving It is underrated. Young Frankenstein works without having seen any of the old Universal movies. The same can’t be said for Dracula: Dead and Loving It, but if you’ve seen the classic movies, it’s really funny.

Supergirl is frustrating because it feels like WBD didn’t believe in it enough to give it the budget it deserved. Instead of being bright and vibrant, it has to hide behind dark and murky scenes to mask subpar CGI. It would be an infinitely better movie if it had the resources to look interesting.
