a kinda perfect prose poem today from EK Krone "I mean childlike, I mean wonder, I mean beauty in the way you look at me, I mean the way she looked at me, I mean my father, I mean our father, I mean who art in Heaven, I mean helpless..." www.havehashad.com/3h8k3

What I Mean When I Say Doe-Eyed

I mean childlike, I mean wonder, I mean beauty in the way you look at me, I mean the way she looked at me, I mean my father, I mean our father, I mean who art in Heaven, I mean helpless, I mean the way that she looked at me helpless, I mean starry-eyed, I mean the gems in her eyes, I mean the light marble of them, I mean paralyzed, I mean headlights blinding through the distance, I mean the way she looked at headlights blinding through the distance, I mean how she was paralyzed as she saw headlights blinding through the distance, I mean distance, I mean the distance between us & Heaven, I mean the distance between us & our father who art in Heaven, I mean Heaven, I mean the doe looked at me, I mean the doe who looked at me is in Heaven, I mean the sky, I mean the deer stand, I mean the deer stand is shadowing Heaven from the sky, I mean my father who fell from a deer stand, I mean the wind sang to him, I mean...

I’m contemplating trying to write fiction for the first time in my life. Maybe I’ll document that process, maybe I’ll never write again. It’s a coin toss.

Today I am debuting my little blog, The World on E! The first post is detailing why I would start a blog, fun stories behind me trying to do a blog before, and my intense personality when it comes down to creative work. I talk about Timothee Chalamet bc obviously. Follow? :) theworldone.substack.com

The amount of black-out poems that have appeared in the past 24 hours is very interesting to me. Poetry is everywhere, folks.

Today is scary. My first poem has officially been published to Rust & Moth! It’s been such a weird and long road to get here but I’m a published writer (of sorts) now. I don’t know what to do now but be hopeful that you enjoy it. Thanks. Bless.
Screenshot of a web page. The words are a poem by Edith Krone titled “at work, the new guy asks”

“you prefer she, right?
i want to say that it is not really a preference,
it just is, my life is not made up of preferences
but if it was, i would simply prefer to not be here.
i would prefer a cliffside, a Van Gogh landscape,
a menagerie of colors so bright that my eyes could
not focus, but mostly, i prefer to not see. if forced to,
id prefer to see the world through my eyes and through my eyes
i am six feet of stardust and Tennessee sunshine.
we heard how in Van Gogh's Starry Night, you could tell
the time through the stars but around here we mostly guess.
in the night humidity, we tell time by the cricket's chirp
and distant city lights--Marlboro smoke rising in place of us.”

#dogyard is back with our last editor interview for a while. Over the next week, we'll be posting some fun stuff and hanging out! Even if you hate my lame interview, please take the time to thank our editors and those that helped get us here. It's been a blessing and so much love all of our mutts!

The semester starts tomorrow. I’ll update this thread with teachings and discussions about each book as we discuss them throughout the semester! I’m missing a few that are in transit or on pre-order but about 18 books this semester for two classes and then a workshop that only has one. #booksky

Today, #dogyard debuted our classical section. In my intro, I identified the importance of literary heritage. It truly means the world to me to know that I am apart of something larger than myself. With the arts being attacked, it is important to think of the past and the future we CAN build.

So blessed for the reception. This mag is only a month and a half old and was only an idea that started in April. A great and dedicated staff that truly cares about literature and the work that we do. Love love love the #writingcommunity.

I’m heartbroken to hear of the passing of Andrea Gibson. I’m blessed for the door they opened and paved the way for Spoken Word and performance poets. Andrea’s work in Button Poetry was a god-send for my teenage years and really allowed me to see this light that we all work in. Thank you, Andrea.

Poster featuring the cover of CD Eskilson's book, Scream/Queen, and a dog. The photo's text details a section of the book, "“...Scream/Queen’s horror concept is both playful and powerful... Eskilson makes it clear in their writing that there is more to the stories of all things we are told go bump in the night, redeeming monsters and redirecting horror tropes which have historically demonized trans experiences, while also creating a collection of poems that allows for the celebration of community, love, survival, and self...” -Lillian Durr"

Listen, I know it’s an art form. BUT! Ordering poems is the most bureaucratic process of writing. I’m at this step and it makes me want to NEVER WRITE AGAIN haha. Bless all y’all who have multiple books, I’m drowning in # 1

What’s more exciting to me as an editor than under 30 debut lists? A poet who returns with something exquisite after a decade of silence. Books that take years to discover their shape, not more-of-the-same sequels to best sellers. Poets who reinvent themselves because life has reinvented them.
