#Birdinglothian Turned up at Skateraw 20 mins after @normmill.bsky.social spotted the Red flanked bluetail. @brucekerr.bsky.social spotted a Yellow browed warbler at the waterfall Myself and @lenhunter.bsky.social settled down and within seconds the Bluetail was whizzing past our heads and landed.

@birdinglothian.bsky.social #Birdinglothian A few hours spent at Gullane point. Fairly quiet all the action looked very distant on the Fife side and outer Forth . R T divers west,1 Arctic skua east ,a Grey heron fighting against the wind in mid Forth kept flying west.Best bird this Merlin

@birdinglothian.bsky.social #Birdinglothian 6 hours spent at Hound point 2 folk there from earlier got Black Tern and a dozen Arctic skua heading west. Later joined by rspb group and Mr J. Nichols. 25 or so Skuas heading west with 5 Bonxie's 5 Pintail with Teal, Wigeon distant Black tern.

@birdinglothian.bsky.social A few hours spent at Hound point. Early afternoon. 70 or so Sandwich tern, Half Dozen Bonxie's (Great Skua) flying west. A group of 4 together high. A dozen Arctic skua west and at least 4 individuals harassing the terns in the vicinity.

@birdinglothian.bsky.social At Holyrood park this morning Whitethroat, Blackcap and Lesser Whitethroat all with young. Try for over an hour to get picts the birds where not being cooperative. At Musselburgh better luck with Little stint, Green sandpiper and Ruff.

@scottishbirding.bsky.social ##scottishbirds Trip over to the Kingdom for a new lifer the long tailed shrike. Initially showed well then into hiding for 1 1/2 hours before reshowing, constantly set upon and chased by yellow hammers keeping an eye on it.

#nature #birds #butterfly Wander around Holyrood park this morning. Spotted this Stoat who stopped for a picture my 3rd in 5 days 1 seen at Gladhouse, 1 at Musselburgh both ran hell for leather. Kestrel spotted vole pounced and flew about before landing to eat. Small copper &Holly blue.

#birdwatching Day trip to Leighton moss RSPB reserve. Lots of Swifts hopefully some heading north soon. Marsh Harrier, Bittern,Cettis and Reed warblers. Avocet,Spotted Redshank, Otters distant not like here in Edinburgh were they appear much closer.

#galls #Redvalerian Noticed these galls on Red valerian in Holyrood park . Seems to be from plant bug Trioza centranthi, looked on NBN atlas doesn't seem to occur in Scotland althou NBN Scotland mentions 6 unverified records.
