Tonight's movie is pumping some much needed joy right into my veins.

Bam! This so-called news network can't handle the simple truth.

First-time watch and it's... not that good? Bland actors, drab atmosphere, duh-duh-DUH!! music each time the Creature appears. Did this movie's reputation come entirely from Boomers who saw it when they were eight? I can't imagine an adult being into this thing, except nostalgically.

Even now, it's still a shock to see the Presidential seal anywhere near his foul, yammering mouth.

This vile choad. I keep thinking I can't hate him any more, and he keeps proving me wrong.

I've read a lot of stories about Rex Harrison, and this is actually the nicest one.

If you rearrange the letters and switch one, "Super Intelligence" reads "Epstein Ruling: Cell," which is much more accurate.

A friend of mine who once worked with Elon and knew him well said he actually believes he's the reincarnation of Alexander the Great. Which is... not great.

Just watched The Browning Version on TCM. In a career of great performances this might be Michael Redgrave's best. He shows you a bitter petty tyrant and then breaks your heart for him. The whole cast is aces, especially Wilfred Hyde-White as Redgrave's unctuous, sleazy Headmaster. Awesome film.

In August, prosecutors asked a judge to dismiss Reflecting Pool vandalism charges against David Hearn because the damage had been caused by a contractor's "botched installation."

To be fair, I only called him a blight on the horror genre, not on the profession as a whole. Cheney could be a fine actor on occasion. But I don't think he added much to horror films... you never feared him, or feared for him. And though the Siodmaks almost make it work, his Alucard is lufdaerd.

010

Eddie Selover @eddieselover.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

He could be a really good actor, so it's not about his ability. I just don't find him even slightly frightening or mysterious. But I didn't mean to be harsh, sorry.

Eddie Selover @eddieselover.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

The Siodmaks are the heroes of this movie, making it eerie and suggestive despite the potato-like anti-charisma of Cheney's performance. Personally I consider him a blight on the genre, though I know he has his fans.

Square editorial cartoon titled “INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE” in large red-and-black letters across the top. On the right, a caricature of Donald Trump sits in a padded cell wearing a straitjacket, staring angrily. On the left wall, in jagged red-and-black writing, are the phrases: “I AM THE STATE.” “I AM THE CODE.” “I AM THE PROMO CODE.” “I AM THE WARNING LABEL.” “I AM THE TRAFFIC LIGHT.” “I AM THE EXIT SIGN.”

This. It has always been this. A sitting American president did this. And because he did this, he should have been convicted and put behind bars. And the fact that we never held him accountable for these crimes will forever stain this country. And we may never recover from it.👇

I love how the film is tongue-in-cheek and only semi-serious. The bit where Watson comes to Baker Street to engage Holmes might be the best scene Rathbone and Bruce ever played together.

Adventures and Hound are a separate series, and to me they're in a class by themselves. Of the Universals, I'd put Faces Death, Spider Woman, Pearl of Death, Scarlet Claw and Woman in Green on top in that order. The rest are still lots of fun and endlessly watchable.
