I'm not a pro, but I do take a lot of wildlife photos for my newsletter and for fun. Some I really like, but have no idea how I want to share them. So here is a Grey hairstreak.

Doing some research for my SubStack I learned there is a family of spiders called pirate spiders! They will eat web-building spiders and then eat any food that gets caught in the newly vacant web! So cool! #arachnids #spiders #arachnology photo reference: www.inaturalist.org/observations...

Yesterday's Bug Hike was so fun! Still have to sort through photo's and write the recap, but there were some interesting spiders, an eager fly and plenty of interesting birds. I also tried out my DSLR and am learning the benefits and limits of my current lens.

Red-shouldered pine borer (Stictoleptura canadensis), Montana. The larvae of these attractive beetles eat dead or decaying wood; adults feed in flowers. I like the fancy antennae, and that the pitted texture of the elytra make the red "shoulders" look like the surface of a strawberry. 🐙🌿📷 #BugSky
A closeup photo, vertical orientation, of a beetle seen from the side, clinging head-down to a piece orange-brown wood. The beetle is called a red-shouldered pine borer, and is elongated, black with red "shoulders" on the forward corners of its elytra. The elytra are shiny with a pitted texture. The antennae are long and curved, and banded yellow and black. The background is out of focus blue sky with a blur of yellowish dry vegetation below.
