Come to Pinehurst Station opening this Wednesday & tell us what you want to see at Jackson Park! We can absolutely do better than a fenced off golf course that cuts off access to TWO light rail stations. (If you can't make it, you can always take our online survey: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...)
Poster of preferred "Jackson" Park uses that you will be able to add dot stickers to vote on!

Possible uses include picnic area, playground, bball court, vball court, trails, spray park, sports field, dog park, skate park, pool, outdoor stage, public restroom, and blank spaces for you to fill out!

The Cedar River provides about 70% of the total inflow of water into Lake Washington. It helps keep the lake clean, the floating bridges/light rail afloat, & the Ballard Locks operating. In short, Cedar River is doing the most. Come experience its majesty and power and SALMON with us on Oct 11th!

Side note: I went there to experience the flooding during this time and you could hear the river super loud from the library beams! And the librarian said they were there when there was a super huge log that ran into the library beams earlier that week! WHOA

70% of Seattle's water comes from the protected Cedar River Municipal Watershed. Rain falls onto this protected forested land and gets filtered before going into the Cedar River and being diverted to Seattle taps - resulting in some of the cleanest, most delicious water tap water in the country!

We’ll be at the Cedar River at Renton Library on Sunday October 11. Join us to experience the magical sights, sounds, and smells of salmon spawning! Yes, it does sometimes get very fishy. But that’s also the smell of an ecosystem being nourished by a keystone species. Yummm forms.gle/YLy21Ge1c33L...

We were told that “breeders”, which refers to spawning salmon, is also a term gay ppl use to refer to straight ppl, for example when “lamenting about something straight ppl do.” This led us to wonder whether salmon are really all straight. We’re not sure the answer BUT they can certainly be trans!
Friend: Hahaha. Breeders is what we call straight ppl. No not offensive. At most you’ll get some chuckle from gay ppl

Us: HAHAHHAHAHA wait that makes it even betterFriend: We might use the word breeders when lamenting about something straight ppl do

Is: OMG PERFEC [sic]

Friend: Or by asking if it’s like a gay event by asking if there will be any breeders

We know what we need to do to recover salmon. Locally on the Cedar River (CR), restoration projects like Rainbow Bend and River Bend make a huge difference. Healthy juvenile salmon habitat is a big factor for CR salmon. In just 2 yrs after Rainbow Bend was done, baby Chinook at the site DOUBLED.

Take a quick bus trip with us down to Renton to see salmon spawning in the Cedar River! In addition to hosting one of the biggest salmon runs in the lower 48, the Cedar River is also the City of Seattle's primary source of drinking water. Come learn more about where we get our drinking water🚰⛲💧

Join us at the Ballard Locks on Aug 29 to see salmon and learn how we can help them! Spoiler alert: We need to restore their habitat by daylighting rivers, removing armoring, planting trees along the water. Aka turn private waterfronts and floodplains into restored public parks and salmon habitat!

2nd Ave closed to cars and turned into a huge urban skate and bike park today. Vibes were impeccable & the tricks were epic. Serious proposal: Close all the even numbered streets in Belltown and downtown to cars & turn them into skate parks, restored native plant habitat, dog parks, playgrounds.
2nd annual Belltown Bash on 2nd Ave, closed to cars and open to people. Many artists live painting beautiful murals including Ryan Hill’s completed painting of kraken eating Zuckerberg’s yacht in the Salish Sea with orcas helping. People are admiring the art and milling around or chilling sitting on the curb.Several large bike ramps on 2nd Ave and a group of young men waiting to take turns biking on the ramps. Many spectators are watching the bikers.Artists live painting murals on 2nd Ave closed to cars. People of all ages admire their work. Beautiful trees and high rises on both sides of the street frame the picture. Many people spectating at the large skate ramps on 2nd Ave. A punk band is playing in the distance.

A great way to help salmon in the PNW is by taking mass transit, which reduces carbon emissions and tire particles in the water. It's also fun :) So ride transit with us on August 29th to learn about salmon & beavers at the Ballard Locks & Golden Gardens! RSVP here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
