Over the last two years I've watched so many folks decide that people they know won't obtain information in a way that's convenient to share that information are choosing to be uninformed (or mis- or disinformed).

They're actually mother and daughter and the daughter is by far the worse. Also the love of my life, and great with humans of all ages and only a jerk at home. (Bella did teach Esme to cry on car rides though.) (It's a very long story how I ended up with them and there's a whole thread.)

Considering the measles outbreaks didn't start in Amish communities but started with antivaxxers elsewhere, yeah, they're not the source. If they'd been the source, they'd have been getting and sharing measles in Amish communities for decades while everyone else who was vaccinated was safe.

They were protected by herd immunity for decades which is why they'd never heard of anyone getting measles so the vaccine didn't seem like a priority. And if there wasn't any outreach to them explaining why it was necessary, yeah, that's on public health.
