A trailer park in deep blue East Palestine, Ohio might seem like a strange place to meet a Trump supporter. But over heated discussion of Brandon Aiyuk's contract status, you can hear whispers that DEI is the reason a good prostitute costs $140.

Agree with this — parents need a network of friends/family they can trust. When I was in high school I babysat. Most of my clients were my parents’ friends or co-workers

It was many years ago, but unfortunately I don’t think he kept the meter. I think it was just a lot of find-and-replace “dem” for “them”, “I be [verb]ing” for “I [verb]”, etc. Alas.

Recommend reading David Talbot’s SEASON OF THE WITCH. As I recall, the book argues that the racial aspect was large — Jones was initially seen as uplifting the Black community, which blinded people to what eventually happened

Assuming a Dem trifecta, I’d suggest in this chronological order: 1. Permitting reform so that actions can be completed before Rs take over 2. BBB-style industry support 3. At the end of the term, hand over a ton of Executive powers to the Legislature (Alongside robust Justice indictments)

CA GOP has a narrow path. Only way they can win the Gov race is if both their candidates finish Top 2. And to make that happen, they can’t endorse one over the other. No daylight. Which risks them being undefined/vanilla.
Screencap from X: Lysée Mitri tweeted ‘The vote was too close. CA GOP has not endorsed one of their two Republican gubernatorial candidates at this point. They say they have two amazing candidates, “an amazing candidate problem.”’

Back in my younger days I did a bunch of half marathons. Longest I ever ran was around 17. The temps today in LA didn’t see that bad — around mid 70s at race time, not much humidity. Running in hot weather is harder but perfectly doable

I re-read Halberstam’s THE POWERS THAT BE recently. Back in the old days at Time, reporters sent raw files back to the NY office, who shaped it into articles, often quite severely. Maybe we’re going back to that

From what I understand, the easiest way to make money is to bet on teams with 90%+ odds. Their actual chance of winning is usually 95%. So many people are looking for a magic underdog win

If Walker had slowed down on the end of that called-back non-TD run, the clock would have gone down to the two-minute warning. Then SEA could have run 30 more seconds off the clock

Interesting passage in Halberstam’s THE POWERS THAT BE. When the Washington Post merged with the Times-Herald, Phil Graham prioritized keeping everything to retain subscribers — comics, Sports, etc. Back then they were the scrappy upstart. Now the tables have turned…
From David Halberstam’s THE POWERS THAT BE:
…”But Graham believed otherwise, he thought if he gar readers what they had come to expect, the comic strips, the sports coverage—he thought the sports coverage was crucial in a situation like this he could hold a surprisingly large part of the Times-Herald circulation. The Post already had two full pages of comic strips, now it was adding sixteen strips more.”
