I oppose the closing of the National Archives facility in Chicago. The lack of transparency surrounding this decision has only deepened the loss it would represent for researchers, historians, dedicated employees, and our community. I urge the National Archives to reconsider this decision.

How many archival records will NARA relocate to places TBD? 236,219 cubic feet. That is hard to conceptualize. NARA's "Sources Sought" notice states they intend to use 22' trucks. 236,219 cubic feet calculates to 196.85 trucks to move the archival material to places TBD.

Any advocacy action that doesn't include a specific ask for Congress to appropriate the funds necessary to allow NARA to keep these facilities open - and to keep all of NARA functioning - will not be successful. Advocates must ask for $$, otherwise NARA San Bruno and Chicago will close.
