I cannot overstate how deeply sinister the Nordic Model is, and how horribly it affects the lives of all women - not just sex workers. It forces *everyone* to constantly evaluate *every* woman for signs she may be engaged in sex work, and to deny her business if they suspect she might be.

‣ ¿Qué es el estigma?

Erving Goffman, define el estigma como la transformación de una persona de "total y corriente" a "un ser inficionado y menospreciado".

	En nuestro caso este estigma convierte una profesión en una identidad que borra todas las demás facetas de nuestras vidas.

Se presenta de distintas formas:

⁃ Estigma interiorizado: surge como respuesta psicológica a la constante exposición a prejuicios, discriminación y desvalorización social. Esto puede moldear nuestra identidad, afectar nuestra autoestima y generar sentimientos de culpa que reflejan la percepción negativa externa.

⁃ Relaciones interpersonales: el estigma influye en las relaciones ya que muchas veces ocultamos nuestra ocupación por temor al juicio, al rechazo o a ser descubiertas, dificultando nuestras relaciones con la familia o la pareja así como llevar una doble vida y agotamiento emocional.

⁃ Estigma institucional: está presente en leyes, políticas y sistemas que rigen la movilidad, el trabajo y los derechos. La criminalización del trabajo sexual aumenta la exposición a daños. Las leyes migratorias limitan la movilidad y el acceso afectando la eficacia de instituciones públicas como la policía y la sanidad.‣ ¿Cómo influye el estigma?

• Policía y sistema legal:
⁃ Hostigamiento selectivo, acoso, extorsión y abuso por parte de la policía.
⁃ Miedo a denunciar la violencia por los abusos policiales lo que conduce a la impunidad de les perpetradores.
⁃ El miedo constante a las redadas y sus consecuencias.
⁃ Registros legales o antecedentes penales que bloquean el acceso a la vivienda, la banca y a los papeles.

• Salud mental y sanidad:
⁃ Tratamiento invasivo y violaciones de confidencialidad que impiden que les trabajadores busquen servicios médicos.
⁃ Interacciones irrespetuosas con les profesionales.
⁃ Reducción de acceso a recursos de reducción de daños (espacios seguros, asesoramiento, medidas de protección…).

• Medios y percepción social:
⁃ Estereotipos públicos sobre las trabajadoras sexuales como inmorales, sucias o malas mujeres.
⁃ La  justificación de la violencia en los medios contra las trabajadoras, lo que conduce a una mayor falta de empatía.
⁃ Los medios sensacionalizan o criminalizan nuestras vidas.
⁃ Generan y ustifican el ostracismo social al negarse a oírnos.
⁃ Enseñan a la sociedad que ciertos sectores y sus familias son prescindibles.‣ ¿Cuál es el impacto del estigma?

El estigma puta tiene un impacto directo en la salud mental, a diferencia del discurso que hemos escuchado por tantos años de parte del feminismo blanco antiderechos en el que se decía que declives como la depresión, la ansiedad, el estrés postraumático (TEPT) y el uso de sustancias en el que se decía que estos estaban relacionados con el trabajo sexual cuando están en realidad vinculados a las condiciones que crea el estigma, la violencia estructural y la criminalización, aislamiento social y la falta de apoyo.

El trastorno de estrés postraumático (TEPT) por ejemplo, varía según el contexto:

En un estudio realizado en Sudáfrica, donde las leyes son más punitivas, la prevalencia del estrés postraumático era de 39.6%; mientras que en un estudio en India, donde el trabajo sexual está permitido en ciertos espacios cerrados, la prevalencia fue de aproximadamente el 21%.

En otros estudios podemos ver que les trabajadores que han tenido experiencias con prácticas policiales represivas como arrestos, encarcelamientos, desplazamientos forzosos y acoso policial, se asocia con un mayor riesgo ya que tienen aproximadamente tres veces más probabilidades de sufrir violencia física o sexual.

Estas métricas nos muestras una relación clara entre el estigma puta, la criminalización, la exposición a la violencia y sus consecuencias traumáticas.‣ Desigualdades interseccionales.

Como ya hemos visto, las desigualdades sociales y estructurales moldean los efectos del estigma sobre nosotres, influyendo en el nivel de exposición a la violencia, el acceso a recursos y nuestra calidad de vida.

Asimismo el estigma interactúa con factores como la raza, el estatus migratorio, la identidad de género, y la clase social, lo que crea distintas e intensificadas formas de exclusión entre les trabajadores sexuales.

El estigma y el racismo viven entre les trabajadores racializades imponiendo vigilancia, violencia y discriminación, y los estereotipos racializades contribuyen a la deshumanización y a la disminución de la credibilidad a la hora de denunciar.

Les trabajadores trans y de género diverso viven un estigma relacionado con la identidad de género que se entrelaza con el estigma del trabajo sexual, lo que conduce a la exclusión de los servicios, discriminación y violencia; además viven la exclusión total del mercado laboral.

Para les trabajadores migrantes el estatus legal es un factor esencial, ya que las restricciones de residencia, permisos de trabajo, movilidad y las barreras linguísticas dificultan todos los aspectos de su vida, asimismo el miedo a la detención o deportación constante genera un estado de alerta eterno, lo que también genera menor capacidad de negociación y el desplazamiento a sitios de trabajo menos visibles y por consecuencia, más violentos.
