Or things they can't even respond to because they're no longer alive.

I read through the whole thread and I agree. I also find that, at least in the online space, "justice" is applied in situations where the full scope of what's happening or happened is not readily understood or proven to be the case. People getting dragged for things that they can't prepare for.

I don't think I could have expressed it as well, but this is what I've been thinking for a while. And a lot of people excuse bodyshaming towards evil people by saying they have the same trait but don't take it personally, like that's fair to everyone who experiences bodyshaming.

Listened to Dirt again and I think my mood made it more enjoyable to listen to, plus I got the cadence of the songs better. Not sure I could pick a specific favorite of the Layne era AiC full albums, but I think Jar of Flies is my favorite EP I've heard of theirs.

Yeah, my first impression is that it's a bit like The Downward Spiral in that sense. Feels very dark and angry and a bit depressive, goes places that you don't necessarily need or want to go.

Dweller Dark @dwellerdark.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

Man, I missed out not listening to Alice in Chains' discography (at least the Layne era stuff), there isn't really a bad song there. Though I gotta listen to Dirt a few more times to really make up my mind on the album.

Ordered some Alice in Chains CDs last week and they finally arrived, never really listened to them and decided to get most of their 90's albums (Facelift, Dirt, Sap, Jar of Flies, AiC self-titled album)

Anybody know of some good Quake map packs/jams that aren't as well-known?

Just a reminder that End Of Starchild is COMPLETELY FREE, on my GOTY shortlist, and the last thing I wrote for PC Gamer as a freelancer. Play it. But probably play Time Tripper (a Doom mod, not standalone) first. msx.horse/tt/ msx.horse/eos/

I've played countless Doom engine games, so believe me when I say this one that combines the FPS with JRPG combat might be the coolest one in 30 years

Free Doom total conversion End of Starchild is part bullet hell, part surprise RPG, all enigma.

Do I start GTA 3 or Vice City? I've played a little bit of Vice City back in the day but never completed it, and never had a copy of 3 to play.

I do kinda wonder how they'd tackle the problem of missing/dead VAs, as David Warner is dead and Heidi Shannon is kind of absent from the VA space (as far as I can tell).

Does anyone know of an up-to-date list of all the new retro FPS games? I'm trying to find a comprehensive list.

This plus not every game should be remastered or remade.

There's an episode of Stargate SG-1 where the team casually mentions that Daniel Jackson has appendicitis, which was written in after Michael Shanks got it when they were doing the crystal skull episode. His appendix burst right after they opened him up to remove it.

Maybe people unfamiliar with Morrowind and old games might not enjoy a remaster of it, but it's not impossible to adjust things for that. If Morrowind was boring or uninteresting, we wouldn't have Project Tamriel or Tamriel Rebuilt (one of these has been a thing for over two decades at this point)

The terminal is useful, too, but I haven't needed to use it as much with Mint. Things like running/installing programs or games generally have a workaround (like allowing .sh and appimages to run as programs in permission settings).

I switched to Mint back in September cause of the Win10 EoL, it hasn't been bad so far. alternativeto.net and www.protondb.com have been fairly useful for finding gaming/software stuff. You can find some programs in the Software Manager like Steam, Discord, browsers, etc.

Got the Jango set fixed and finished up, got a nice prequel shelf going on (minus the OT trinkets). Still have a second Luke mech to build, don't know what I'm going to do with that.

I've been on it for about a month and a half, pretty good so far. Just don't encrypt your home folder during installation, the service it uses is apparently deprecated and it can cause issues. I think there's also other encryption services that are better. One of them is called luks, I believe?

I finally beat the main campaign of Baldur's Gate 1, there were a few confusing and frustrating parts but it's enjoyable. Now I just have to do the DLCs and then I can start BG2 or Planescape.
