Just getting this out of the way so folks can share when people inevitably start asking: No, the SAG-AFTRA strike ending does NOT mean that the #Genshin cast strike is also over. Genshin is Non-Union, and SAG’s contracts have no say on it. The cast strike is an independent Collective Work Refusal.

I'm glad the strike is over, but I'll never stop thinking about the nasty tactics certain voice actors engaged in in just to "hurry up and get back to work" for a handful of dying and corrupt companies, and I know I'm not the only one. Many voice actors got a foul look at their heroes this strike.

Jonathan Joss' husband Tristan has released another statement saying that donations to their old home GoFundMe are not needed at this time and would ask for everyone to direct their energy towards spreading the message about how he was in fact murdered in a hate crime

While I deeply appreciate the support from everyone I wanted to let you know that I have had a couple offers regarding covering expenses for a celebration of life. I have absolutely no plans yet on that but I will try to keep everyone updated. There’s not a need to donate to the gofundme. But I want everyone to remember the joy and love Jonathan has brought and will continue to bring forever. I have my essentials covered and our family in San Antonio is taking care of me until I get back to South Carolina. Instead of donating Jonathan and I would both rather you spread the word about the consistent injustice done to him, to us, and to our dogs. We had so many beautiful plans for the future.

historically, companies involved in labor disputes exacerbate stakes & create panic in order to try & get workers to make concessions & fold to their less-than-ideal propositions, ESPECIALLY when they’re starting to feel the pressure. this doesn’t negate the very real stakes. Issue #2 (among many)? The right to use generated AI voices - including yours - to scab for you during a future strike. Yes, YOU the PERSON retain the right to go on strike. But your Digital Replica is allowed to keep working (or replace you). Unless you wanna *pay the company* to rescind that. :)

There are a lot of images being shared by the community, some of which are, unfortunately, not accurate. It does not help anyone to spread misinformation about the Last Best and Final Offer (LBFO) given to membership in regards to the IMA Contract. #voiceover #voiceactors

The Latest “LBFO” IMA offer

We know there are a lot of images and questions circulating regarding the “LBFO”

Let’s discuss some discrepancies we’ve seen & concerns we still have based on what members of Neg Comm have provided

(Please note: This is going to be text heavy)

Regarding DR (Digital Replicas):

There is no such thing as a PCAP DR in the LBFO. Visual DRs are supposed to cover on-camera performances in video games, but the employers still reserve their interpretation of the contract that the only performance capture covered by the IMA is PCAP that has spoken dialogue. They do not consider any “movement-only PCAP” acting and don’t feel that they have to pay motion-only performers under union contracts.

Obviously, the union disagrees with that interpretation of the contract, but the committee has tried to make sure that any proposals in the contract effectively retain each side’s positions on this topic to address it in future negotiations.

Visual DRs only apply to visual performance (face or body) for cinematics, and only for a specific, objectively identifiable performer.

Employers are free to create in-game movement or facial
performance without consent, transparency or compensation.

“Can Suspend Consent During A Strike”

There are five instances in which you would not be able to suspend consent of something that creates new performance, even objectively identifiable as you in-character, during a strike.

i. DR (if prepaid sessions’ worth)
ii. ICDR
iii. Scratch
iv. Multi-game rights
v. Prompting

This could be for one or several of the following reasons:

i. Explicitly carved out (ICDR, scratch)
ii. Because they can prepay you and they get to “use what they’ve paid for” (DR, ICDR, scratch, multi-game rights)
iii. It’s not covered by the contract at all, no consent, transparency, compensation (prompting by ANYTHING other than the actor’s name)

And this could be for sideletter 6 games only (multi-game rights, DR) or even for struck games (ICDR, scratch, prompting).

To be clear, if they pre-pay you for any of your sessions for a DR, then you can’t suspend that pre-paid DR work during a strike for SL6 games. That can greatly reduce the effect of a strike. In TV/Film, even if they pay you ahead of time, you can go on strike and disrupt production. You are then required to go back to work once the strike is over.

Game Performance Matters @gpm-official.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

💜 EQUITY SOLIDARITY 💜 Thank you @equityuk.bsky.social for this article letting UK members know what our strike entails and how to best support our efforts. We appreciate the international solidarity! Link to full article at the end of the thread 👇 (1/4)

From Equity UK’s website:

“Guidance for members regarding the SAG-AFTRA strike

Update on the SAG-AFTRA games strike
Published May 2025

Equity recently met with representatives from
SAG-AFTRA who provided an update on their strike action, where they currently are in their fight, and how Equity can support them.
Detailed information is outlined below.”

“The essential points covered are as follows:
• SAG-AFTRA union members are still on strike in video games in the US.
• The main fight is around Al, and demanding fair terms and compensation for usage.
• SAG-AFTRA members are turning down work to hold the line on their fight. There is a risk that employers will seek to bring some videogames over to the UK and hire UK based performers on poor pay and terrible terms. Equity is resisting this and warns that terms in the UK will worsen if this is not
resisted”

“The SAG-AFTRA strike checker provides the
'status' of games to show if it is a 'struck' production.
• Working on a struck production undermines the strike action, and puts members at risk of reputational damage and potential issues with joining SAG-AFTRA in future.
• Equity members can safeguard their future by resisting poor terms and conditions here in the UK.
• You can decide as an individual if you want to take on work here. Equity strongly advises you to check the strike status of any games work, and to demand Equity terms at minimum.”

“SAG-AFTRA union members in the US have been on strike in videogames for around nine months. This means nine months of refusing work, sacrificing income and experience to hold their position to resist problematic Al provisions and in-perpetuity all-rights buyouts for multi picture use in their games contracts.
As the strike continues, it is even more important that we establish a position here in the UK to protect our future and the future of work in games. US Games producers will start to look to the UK as a place to come for cheap labour and exploitative conditions, as they meet resistance from performers in the US.”

You’ve probably heard the term SL6 thrown around a lot - a term for projects that were given permission/legal status to continue despite the strike because of last agreements. I thought those permissions were permanent - they’re not. Which means the allowance to work on them is starting to expire.

Regarding today's latest batch of really lazy strike-busting propaganda. There's a LOT wrong with "the chart", but this bit in particular I truly love because it makes the dishonesty of the author shockingly, inarguably clear. Don't believe the hype.

The reason the other contracts don’t have the SPP is that the SPP is a DISCOUNT TO EMPLOYERS, in lieu of the HIGHER integration payment that our other contracts have. It is a CONCESSION that we made in an effort to get the deal done.
IT IS NOT A GAIN

This chart was created by someone who is either a bald-faced liar, or in the best case, completely uninformed and clueless about this contract.

DONT FALL FOR IT
