LOL okay you don't get to tell me what my hobbies are or aren't based on how you see the world. Anyway have a nice day.

Why would I spend years doing that when I don't need to for a hobby? Power to people that do but I don't have that much freetime.

Sorry didn't mean to offend just didn't understand your point. But we can agree to disagree, no worries and take care.

People that enjoy cooking use microwaves all the time? I don't equate speed to a worthiness of something.

You're assuming a lot about people's motivations. I doubt most people are tinkering with these projects if they're not enjoying working on them.

Hubz @dushubz.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
That could take years and most will never put that work in on a hobby. With AI assistance and testing and polishing it takes days/weeks.

I gotta say that's not been my experience with it at all.

You're missing that it allows people do things on their own and learn new stuff and build things they couldn't before. To me that's a hobbyist's dream and unlocks a lot of cool potential projects that never would happen otherwise.

So they can play that C64 game on a ZX81. There's always been weird ports and hobbyists projects that I've never personally understood the point of. People like to tinker. And yeah with a business if your competition is using it and their output is much faster then you could be in trouble long term.

We'll see but too early to call that. I personally think some will go down but not all. Plus the open source models will never go away and the usage of those has spiked dramatically in the last year due to cost and massive improvements.

I may have to try this out those results are impressive especially for the Atari 8-bit version. I have tinkered a bit just with basic designs of games and have been impressed with the results but this looks like a noticeable jump.

Learning that Galaxy Game is getting restored gave me cause to recall witnessing the Spacewar reunion that took place back in 2018. To date this is still the only public recording of the event I'm aware of, even though the Smithsonian video recorded it: www.atariarchive.org/the-spacewar...

There have been some 1991 Japanese magazine scans this past year, and I went poking around to see what I could find for pre-release Zelda A Link to the Past images. The Sanctuary mid-rain storm is classic since that never happens. Special thanks to @dushubz.bsky.social for some recent scans

Love Retro Game Deconstruction's work! While no one should pretend it's the original program, the educational value of having simulations is a immense. If you really want to teach early game history, be sure to check out his programs.

Huge thanks to @alanswx.bsky.social for a $100 donation for getting more stuff processed via Gemini for Rosetta. Should be enough to get Famitsu 1997/1998 processed fully now! Still would love to get more done if anybody else wants to help out before Gemini's discount ends!

I've tried a lot of models and unfortunately none compare with Gemini which sucks because I'd love to run a cheaper one. But it is so good at spatial awareness and article flow with Japanese that other models lack. Hoping others improve in that though.

The files themselves are around 500ish MB each, I have an idea I may go with once the year is ready for the storage side. $4 a piece is what it costs me to create the transcription, spatial, and translation through the current Gemini 3.7 Flash discount. It's the best model I've found for this.

Currently costs me about $4 an issue, I've got about ten more paid for but want to do a lot more while there's a Gemini discount. If you can help I'd appreciate it. Any amount helps! Thank you so much! Venmo - venmo.com/Dustin-Hubba... Paypal - paypal.me/dustinhubbard1
