Is anyone in the media going to look at Andrew Husband, new Reform UK Leader of Durham Council's business accounts? They're a mess: find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/officers/EvF... And he's responsible for a council with a budget of £1.3bn, providing services to over 522k people.

Reform UK have chosen Andrew Husband to be Group Leader for County Durham. His business mismanagement should be of concern to all who Durham Council serve. It includes one company going bust, owing creditors £1m. He also described the COVID vaccine a crime against humanity.

Perhaps it's because people on the doorsteps are saying "Starmer is weak, he needs to get a grip on this." The country has spoken loud and clear in these local elections. They want immigration sorted. I don't like the language being used, but I respect people's concerns.

Chris Fletcher @durhamchris.bsky.social · 12/05/2025
I don't see Statmer keeping the narrative on immigration. Do you have the data on how many speeches or articles he's made in the past year compared to other topics? I haven't noticed that. I have noticed an emphasis on efforts around our economy, education, health, and housing.

A question that I haven't heard a good answer to: if cutting migration by a third in a year hasn't changed the narrative on it at all - what would make you think cutting it by another third (or half] would?

That's pretty much how it sounds to me. Ukrainians have demonstrated such strength and resolve. It's painful to watch Trump and Vance bring them down 😢. If it wasn't for Starmer and Macron leading the EU coalition, I think Trump would have signed a deal with Russia to give them all of Ukraine!

It's no surprise, but our welfare system does need an overhaul. People need to be able to work whilst also claiming. Assessors need to understand medical and mental health conditions.

The positive rejoin conversations are already leading to some sensible discussions about trade with the EU. Johnson's no deal brexit was ill thought out and damaging to the UK. Starmer has been instructing his team to sort this from Day1.
