Received another eye injury from my gym, fault of the staff belayer. Recovering well but lights stung for awhile and now my eye can now keep itself open, but that costed me a few days of commission work 😩

"Hey, tough guy! You just gonna stay down there or are ya getting up sometime in the next year?" 🎨: @amlogamer.bsky.social #CrossArt

A drawing of Cross resting on the ground, staring back at the viewer over her shoulder, playfully sticking her tongue back at them.

Following the successful breakthrough in robotic engineering that led to the Accords, Lyanna Light - chief engineer and COO of Albrite Industries - became something of an overnight success story. Once unknown in the mainstream eye, she quickly found herself something of "the face" of modern robotics. Though, she's quick to bemoan her newfound fame during interviews, feeling it pulls away from the achievements of her colleagues and creations. As she puts it, solely crediting her for the creation of the accords is akin to crediting the success of a child to their parent for birthing them.

Though Lyanna has enjoyed a great deal of success following the proliferation of the Accords, she sometimes speak of the process leading to their creation with a rather wistful tone. More specifically, two colleagues from her old university days seem to be a recurring subject of displeasure for her: Dr. Bryce Blackwell & Dr. Ashe Ravencroft.

Records show that the three were regular collaborators many a time ago - but over time, fundamental differences in their personal philosophies drove them apart. While Lyanna believed in a future where machines could live among humans as truly autonomous, sentient beings, Blackwell believed machines to be nothing more than tools to man. Their debates on the subject eventually grew so heated, that it was clear they couldn't reconcile their differences, and set out on their own paths.

While Lyanna often speaks of Bryce with regret, with her attempts to reach out to him rebuffed for years on end, she seldom speaks of Dr. Ravencroft in the same way. Among the scant few times she's been asked, her only comments about Dr. Ravencroft are that "history tells us there are many kinds of love: not all of them good."

I've never finished so much of my art and responsibilities in a long time, and in tandem with my climbing training. I can't believe I've been enjoying it? Got back to working and colored this Blood Angel on my downtime before working on my first ever comm in awhile!

Other than that, sad to see so many artists undercut and undervalue themselves in sites just to get an easy earning and hopefully appear "honest" amid AI scams. If I have to then, I'm thinking of lessening my current prices too if I'm doing this again

Durd (Comms OPEN) @durd.bsky.social · 09/08/2026

Outta the loop for a few years earning from art, but the market's really changed. Still struggling to find new clients even when I reach out to new spaces, but I'm thankful that I've been getting more support. I got projects and paintings more to finish, and I hope that can entice others!

ELRIC, THE ETERNAL CHAMPION - 2026

a digital painting of ELRIC, Michael Moorcock's most famous character, and albino prince who pulls power from his runesword Stormbringer. here he swoops down into a morass of writhing chaotic life and flesh. his cape billows behind him and a lilac sheen bounces off his gothic armour. the armour is (by fantasy standards) adorned with decorations evoking dragons. the lining of his cape is blood red.

I hope to never see anything like it, and the thing with the texture feeling is pretty real. We now have modern dynamic ropes though, they're so smooth we don't actually struggle to pull the rope clip all that much so it might eliminate the habit for our local scene eventually!

Durd (Comms OPEN) @durd.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

That's amazing! Not everyday I get good words from other climbers for my art, let alone one that climbs and writes as a novelist!

Durd (Comms OPEN) @durd.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Thanks for the feedback! I haven’t actually rendered the harness and the 8 knot yet attached next to the belay hoop. I lead climb myself, so I gotta keep that realistic. I’ve heard horror stories about the mouth thing and our level 2 instructor told us to at least nip it by the lip instead of biting

Durd (Comms OPEN) @durd.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Thank you! As much as I can I’m at least trying to have her nip it with her mouth than bite it from the teeth for better representation for the grit of the climb Hehe

Durd (Comms OPEN) @durd.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Oh I haven’t actually rendered and fully sketched her harness yet! I’m going to base it off my Black Diamond one. I’m gonna draw the eight knot and have it tied to side of the belay hoop. Rope’s a mess on the design rn, I’ll have to clean that one up as I clean the character Thanks for the feedback!
