Since I can't stop making Metroid videos for some reason, why not jump on the Metroid opinion template that's been going around? Nothing really that surprising here, but I did throw some explanations in the alt text to explain the weird outlier picks here

Donzosscanlog's "About me: Metroid Edition" template, with the following fields filled to reflect my personal opinion

Favorite 2D Game: Zero Mission (I've replayed this a ton, but it's close with Dread and Super for me; the former has incredible movement & game feel, while the latter is essentially perfect)

Favorite Power Suit: Dread's Gravity Suit (this used to be the Dark Suit in Prime 2, but I think the Dread suit has finally surpassed it for me)

Favorite Zero Suit: Fusion Samus (ironically, I hate the Zero Suit and much prefer Samus's design towards the end of Fusion, rather than the skin-tight bodysuit with a high ponytail that grew so popular afterwards)

Favorite Prime: Prime 2 (Sky Temple Keys suck, but I love the emphasis on boss fights and more alien locales)

Most Underrated: Metroid 2 (no, AM2R & SR could never replace the series' most seminal title)

Favorite OST: Prime 1 (c'mon, it's nothing but series-defining bangers)

Favorite story: Fusion (Super & Dread are close yet again, but I feel Fusion's is the most fleshed-out)

Most overrated: Prime 3 (still a good game, but its gameplay is worse than Prime 1 & 2 in literally every way - unlike Fusion, it doesn't really compensate much for the more railroaded structure. )

Favorite upgrade: Speed Booster (I almost put flash shift, but shinespark chaining is a genius mechanic basically no other series has replicated)

Favorite Fan Game: Super Metroid X-Fusion (it's a very non-standard Metroid experience, but that's exactly why I love it: X-Fusion is very much not a "safe" game)

Favorite boss: Raven Beak (Quadraxis and Metroid Prime are close runner-ups, but Raven Beak kinda has it all)

Favorite music track: Ice Belt - Power Generator (This is a tentative pick, but it's easily my favorite track from Prime 4 and among the series' best; Phendrana Drifts, Torvus Bog, and Rundas's Boss Theme are close contenders. I can only hear Brinstar Red & Ridley's theme remixed so many times before rolling my eyes)

With the advent of fully autonomous robots and their subsequent integration into society, it was inevitable that the relationship between humans and accords would eventually lead to one feeling strong feelings for the other. Though the concept may seem absurd, it's a reality that Albrite industries had considered all throughout the creation of the accords. Not only did they view this as the logical conclusion of introducing fully autonomous machines to society, but they felt it would be their crowning achievement if their creations proved capable of such intense feelings towards others - especially humans.

As their creation is relatively recent, marriage between accords and humans has been a recurring topic as equal rights continue to be advocated and fought for them. That it's yet to be recognized has done little to stop either side from pursuing deeper relationships with the other.

In spite of Albrite Industries' clear wishes to bridge the gap between man and machine, none of the major frame manufacturers distribute frames that share full anatomical parity with humans... though, this has done little to stop independent third-parties from stepping in to meet such demand. Interestingly, while this parity isn't 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 supported by major manufacturers, the resulting sensations that accords have from use of these modifications seem to be the same as those of humans. It's unclear whether these sensations are a byproduct of their black boxes interfacing with the modifications, or if this functionality is already factored into their core design.

Interestingly, Albrite Industries hasn't targeted these third-parties or their modifications - at least none that still meet manufacturing safety regulations.

Following the successful breakthrough in robotic engineering that led to the Accords, Lyanna Light - chief engineer and COO of Albrite Industries - became something of an overnight success story. Once unknown in the mainstream eye, she quickly found herself something of "the face" of modern robotics. Though, she's quick to bemoan her newfound fame during interviews, feeling it pulls away from the achievements of her colleagues and creations. As she puts it, solely crediting her for the creation of the accords is akin to crediting the success of a child to their parent for birthing them.

Though Lyanna has enjoyed a great deal of success following the proliferation of the Accords, she sometimes speak of the process leading to their creation with a rather wistful tone. More specifically, two colleagues from her old university days seem to be a recurring subject of displeasure for her: Dr. Bryce Blackwell & Dr. Ashe Ravencroft.

Records show that the three were regular collaborators many a time ago - but over time, fundamental differences in their personal philosophies drove them apart. While Lyanna believed in a future where machines could live among humans as truly autonomous, sentient beings, Blackwell believed machines to be nothing more than tools to man. Their debates on the subject eventually grew so heated, that it was clear they couldn't reconcile their differences, and set out on their own paths.

While Lyanna often speaks of Bryce with regret, with her attempts to reach out to him rebuffed for years on end, she seldom speaks of Dr. Ravencroft in the same way. Among the scant few times she's been asked, her only comments about Dr. Ravencroft are that "history tells us there are many kinds of love: not all of them good."

While I love Metroid Dread to bits, my one issue with it is that you could really FEEL MercurySteam rushing to wrap it up due to pressure from covid, deadlines, & managerial issues So yes a brand-new 2D Metroid from a team that GETS Metroid & learned from those mistakes has me VERY excited

Contrary to common belief, the "early generation" accords - prototypes who were created before the first generation models were officially unveiled - can still be found roaming about Albrite Industries' main branch. As is to be expected for engineering, the R&D process left many prototypes and necessary failures on the path to success. However, company COO, Lyanna Light, was adamant that they not simply "scrap" the prototype machines, arguing that dismissing the prototypes as "failures" would disqualify the entire company from giving life to machines in the first place.

According to employees (past and present), Lyanna was resolute in her belief that their every prototype were just as deserving of life as their own creators. This occasionally led to heated arguments and confrontations, as prototype accords with speech irregularities or abnormal behavior proved disruptive in the workplace. One employee recounted an incident during an especially turbulent time in the project, when an especially aggressive prototype was fatally-injured by an agitated security guard, which Lyanna quickly caught wind of. Stories differ on what exactly happened next: the only consistent detail is the guard was seen sobbing hysterically on the front steps by nightfall. He was never seen again afterwards. Lyanna simply tells people "not to worry" when the topic is occasionally brought up again by longtime employees.

To this day, Lyanna keeps the prototype accords in her personal company at Albrite Industries' main branch. Though skeptics might doubt her intentions, some have claimed to see her headpatting some of the prototypes with an uncharacteristic, motherly smile upon her lips...
