Worried I may have been coerced into doing the Gloucestershire cheese roll run and then giving a serious business talk about it #monktoberfest

Stayed in a fancy shed, Biscuit approved
A wooden panelled shed made into a tiny house with a pointy roof, surrounded by grass with sunrise mist in the backgroundImagine a dog that's like a golden retriever but the size of a rabbit and you've just told it a really great joke so he's really happy and totally giving you eyes that say "great joke dude". He's sitting on a sandy beach with a grassy hill in the distance

I very rarely race as I really don't need hundreds of other running dickheads spoiling the view but I'm sure I wouldn't have finished this weekend so strong without the aid station volunteers. Having a stranger call you by your first name & ask what you need when you're 9 hours deep is pretty great

Any Bristol/SW crew wanting to see Smote tonight I have 2 tickets available. Last night of their tour in a tiny pub yet I am forever doomed to miss them when they play locally,

There's around a dozen cows in our garden. Fairly normal countryside procedure except we live on what is essentially a cliff and they are likely stuck. Spot the cow

It's nice when you spend 6 months building a thing and then you start wondering if actually it was premature and maybe it's not needed and then the literal next day your planet size customer asks "would you happen to have a thing that looks exactly like the thing you've just spent 6 months building"

Quite a lot of cow negotiation on this morning's run, including this belty who was busy reading a Laurie Lee poem in front of the gate I needed to go through

Finished reading the Lord of the Rings books yesterday for the first time. This Tolkein guy is quite good it turns out, keep an eye on that name. Ran to one of the highest points in Gloucestershire this morning, extremely middle earth vibes.

The only day of the year I look forward to getting up at 4:30am. Walk up the hill, find the 8ft suave pig and the fiddle player; a wee pagan jig until the sun comes up, oh look the pub is open.
Morris dancers morris prancing around Jackie while a sheep plays the fiddleA very tall and suave pig with a resemblance to Mick Jagger, dancing against an orange sunrise A surprisingly large number of strangers on a hill at sunrise A Cotswold stone pub in the morning sun, serving pints, sandwiches and pagan sing songs at 6am

I get a surprising amount of satisfaction from creating (extremely sick) architecture diagrams. It's the kind of technical drawing I wanted to do as a kid but I didn't hear the term "distributed systems" until after I'd started (and quit) an actual physical Architecture degree.

@toni.bsky.team Hi Toni, apologies for the direct approach but I'm sort of out of options. I raised a bug *15 months ago* that prevents me from unfollowing people. It's quite a fundamental feature of bsky to choose who you follow - but I can't. The bug was acknowledged but nothing has been done.

Picking up a side project I have been building on-and-off for 12 years. Looking at the commit history, it's always this time of year when I decide to delve into it again. I even appear to have made the *exact* same commit almost precisely 3 years apart. Definitely going to finish it this time eh?
