It's been one of those days where I got more done with the non-paying job than the paying job. Ah well, 'tis the season.

Hey, Tommy Tuberville -- I get it. That night at the furry convention with the pilot in the cute fursuit was amazing. You thought that you had found the One. The next day, you found out that he had a guy in every city his carrier served. It hurts. You will find the right guy. I believe in you.

I saw Forgotten Island with some friends this afternoon. Such a wonderful movie, and yeah - I teared up a bit. The degree of emotional depth was surprising and welcome. Outstanding Filipino representation, which I know is uncommon. Highly recommended! (Oh, and I'm totally Team Raww 🙂)

Dinner tonight: Chicken Alambre! www.seriouseats.com/chicken-alam... It's delicious! The chicken was marinated in adobo sauce from chipotle chiles, plush some minced chipotles mixed in, so it's got a bit of heat.

It has been a very full day if a very full week of convention work, but I'm pretty happy with the results so far. Only, um, 9 weeks to go. Oh boy.

An update on my #PrEP experiences. Something I learned about Yeztugo I did not know in advance: It works for 6 months because it is a very viscous liquid that sits in subcutaneous pockets that very slowly are absorbed into the body. Those grape-sized pockets stays around 10-12 months.

It's a gray and rainy day out. With the exception of a minor bit of plumbing (switching shower heads) I've mostly spent the day on my couch working on convention stuff. This is very welcome after several weeks of busy weekends.

This is the first night I've had in two weeks to just...chill out and do nothing. It's lovely. Later I'll reheat some leftover pizza (NY style, mozz blend cheese, white sauce, roasted red peppers, spinach, roasted garlic, artichoke hearts) and bake some cookies (from frozen dough).

To continue documenting my Yeztugo experiences: the injections left two nodules of liquid under the skin that are a bit sore today. They aren't visible but you can feel them. Reading further, it looks like those spread out (to about 1.2 in/3cm) but don't go away for around a year.

I've said this before, but: PrEP is extremely important and the less mystery that surrounds it, the better. I'm sharing my experiences in hopes that others understand what is going on and consider pursuing it themselves. For Yeztugo, Gilead has a program that provides it for free as well.

Three months later my PrEP saga comes to a close. After ANOTHER round of HIV/STI tests, I got the Yeztugo injections (six-month PrEP). Bizarrely, it required two people to administer. First you take 2 large tablets, then two ice packs were applied about 2" to either side of the navel for 5 minutes.

So I'm on the S.S. Badger, a coal-fired steamship that is on the National Register of Historic Places. It's a 4-hour trip from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Also one of the few (only?) ferry routes that carries a US Highway designation (US 10).

So three months ago I dropped Verizon After 20+ years with them) to move to US Mobile, which was a quarter of the price. This trip has shown the limitations of an MVNO, and the results of less prioritization. Coverage has been dodgy at best. One thing's for sure: At MFF my phone will be useless.

So, Traverse City, an assessment after 24 hours: the tourists run late-middle aged, moderately wealthy. A slightly higher-than average mix of queers. What stands out the most, though, is that they are all very, very white. Embarrassingly so. Once you see it, you can't stop noticing it.
