People that use @pi.dev as their harness..we want to ship a Svelte plugin for it but since it doesn't natively support subagents, which option do you prefer? a. We don't ship subagents for `pi` b. We expose a tool that spawns a new pi instance c. We assume you have `pi-subagents` and configure that

“Why not build editable.website on a more popular framework?” I get asked this a lot. Because for building websites, Svelte is simply the best framework. And my opinion hasn't changed. Async Svelte is going to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Two sides of the same coin - not as exciting anymore when agents do the busy work. But then again - agents do the busy work. So they should be able to help you upgrade much faster. The migration script includes creating a todo list tailored to your project which should help you(r agent)

SvelteKit 3 is out! Better environment variable handling, better error messages, and sensible breaking changes with an easy upgrade thanks to our migration script which handles many things automatically and gives you(r agent) a nice Todo list for the rest.

(ok I see that my "core of the problem" response can be read like that; it was more meant in the sense of "agree, if you're not careful you'll end up in this state")

I'm not saying that the agent work is exhausting me or sucking out all of the fun (because I'm mindful about how much I do in parallel), all I'm saying is the flow state itself just isn't achievable with this workflow.

Both are good for your mental health but flow state specifically is not something I can replicate with meditation. Maybe if agents where fast enough to almost instantly respond I could get into flow state as well, deeply tuned into a particular problem I solve, but models are not fast enough yet.

Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
For sure I can just choose to do it - and probably will from time to time - but this was special because I truly had no other option.
110
Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Sure I can just choose to do it, and maybe I'll do from time to time but strictly speaking it might need be needed anymore with the next generation of models. Flow state while directing agents - I just never had that yet. You?

Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
I mean I sure hope to, but in the classical "I solve a code puzzle" or "I engage with this code until I have an epiphany" sense I'm pessimistic - I just don't know if there will be many problems left where I truly need to do that and can't instead direct an agent.

Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Currently coding like it's 2024 because neither Fable nor Astra can solve me a novel problem in a way that not only works but is also simple and has few lines of code. Had flow state for the first time in months and it saddens me I'll probably not gonna experience it again.

Update: I've added a little cache header (aligning with what Next/Nuxt versions basically do), much faster for this (extreme edge) case now
140
Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
For the upcoming remote functions version we can eventually leverage the remote functions caching API we will have, and then it will be similar to Next, i.e. in-memory-JS caching.
110
Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Nuxt does add a cache header, and I believe Next has client-side-JS caching of the route because nothing is requested at all when going back and forth. So in the load functions version we could also add a cache header and speed it up.
110
Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
The core problem is that the load function runs on every change. I could easily add a cache header for a few minutes, but that goes a bit against the goal of the demo, of showcasing how fast something can be if it goes through to the server each time. Though to be fair both Next and Nuxt do this.

Simon H @dummdidumm.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Interesting observation - I did not think of stress testing it this hard. One factor is that it's only in a US datacenter by default; I additionally deployed it to Germany now, which makes it much faster (for me at least).

Yes but you'd have to have to adjust the implementation to use a separate backend, because you still need one

It's using load functions right now but I'm experimenting with a remote functions version, which needs fork preloading to work as fast, which has a few bugs still - fixing them as we speak.

This is the demo - an adaption of next-books, built in SvelteKit 3 and Svelte 5. Preloading on hover makes this super fast, and repeated visits are even faster thanks to Vercel's runtime cache where I store the response data of search results or book details (deliberately not using cache headers)

Building a little demo app with SvelteKit and oh boy is this fun. When working on the framework itself all the time it's good to step back and actually use that thing from time to time.
