Want To Make Money? Build A Business On A Bike Lane
Research from New York City notes that newly installed protected bike lanes do more than keep bikers safe--they raise the income of the stores they are in front of.

To carry 50,000 people per hour in each direction, a city needs a 175m wide road for cars. Even if those cars are electric. And then there’s all the parking. OR a city can move A LOT MORE people in a lot less space, with A LOT LESS public money, emissions, pollution, noise etc. Choices. Simple.
Graphic showing a single lane 9 m wide track for metros, a 35 m wide road for buses with four lanes, and a 175 m wide road for cars with seven lanes, making the point that one single track of Metro replaces seven lanes of car traffic. Mobility in cities is about space.

There's a reason why Somerville hasn't had a traffic death in 4 years. The city isn't perfect, but they've made a concerted effort to design many streets around people and not cars. You can still drive, but you're going to have to do so slowly and while paying attention.

No, it’s not a race against time. It’s a race against each other to the exits as taxpayers refuse their pleas for bailouts. Time is just an uncertain but extant wall against which the Ponzi crashes. Bloodbath, anyone?

If just 10% of Americans skipped meat on Mondays, it could avoid roughly 2–5 million metric tons of CO2e per year. That’s comparable to taking about 1 million passenger cars off the road. Small actions add up at scale. One day a week isn't hard, let's go for "Meatless Monday".
