If the current pattern holds, Jake Bauers will have a 172 wRC+ in 2027, a 202 wRC+ in 2028, and destroy mankind in 2029.

I'm patiently waiting for the right time to use the phrase "Pratt Fall." #brewers #NLDS #postseason

Katie bar the door! Jumpin' Drew Rasmussen gets the hot tag to B. Bryan Baker and it's a pier six brawl!

I used to tell people that reliever Brad Brach was a candy heir, simply because that it seemed like too random a fact for me to make up.

I feel like my theory that Drew Rasmussen was getting revenge for his father Dennis Rasmussen for the Yankees trading him to the Reds has no holes, expect maybe for the fact that they're not actually related.

"Don't make the first or third out on third," really may be the best bit of baseball conventional wisdom out of the myriad options.

It's not as if you break on contact from 2nd with two outs or anything anyway...

You know the Yankees or Red Sox are playing when with a pitch clock, you might still get a three-hour 1-0 game.

The Yankees' worst whiff mark over the last 19 seasons was 54.8% in 4/3/19, when they lost 2-1 against the Tigers in a game that Matt Boyd, Buck Farmer, Joe Jimenez, and Shane Greene combined for 18 strikeouts.

Since the start of the 2008 season, the Yankees have played in 3081 games in the regular season and postseason. Tonight's whiff rate of 46% by the Yankees would rank as the fifth-worst performance for the Yankees over those 19 seasons.

Yup, pretty much. Teams react to incentives after all, not pleas to aesthetics!

This is the thing I kept yelling at. But it seems that generally, the people who most want a very different style of play in baseball tend to be the most against radical changes to the rules of baseball. It's like they think three true outcomes and max effort pitching were aesthetic choices.

When I was a little kid, I loved to go on car rides with my grandfather and I'd just guide him to make turns and we'd get all over Maryland as a result. He called it "Panama Canaling." However, GPS is clearly superior! lol

"Danny what's that box outside your house?" "Cologuard" "Aren't you worried someone will steal it?" "No. You are aware what's in it, aren't you?" "But a thief might not know that." "Oh, they know. The box says Cologuard all over it and it says human sample on it." "Oh, OK, whatever you say."

I think MLB should keep leasing Oakland Coliseum as a neutral site that you can use as a punishment for teams.

It's kinda funny that if one played the officially translated Crossbell games, you basically see him die before you actually meet him.

Dan Szymborski @dszymborski.fangraphs.com · 02/10/2026
Trails love to find use human history to find parallels. A lot of gnosticism was basically a spoiler alert for the Crossbell games, and the Calvard games underlying tension greatly draws from eternal recurrence and from Norse mythology.

Since a lot of the organization of Erebonia seems based on Imperial Germany, and there's a similar imperial-federal structure, I assume they're the equivalent of the Prussian gendarmerie; loosely Army-associated but in the role of a national police force.

Not really moving the overall probs since ZiPS likes Mead quite a bit. Red Sox a little stronger against Fried a little weaker against Cole, assuming that Mead's starting. I need to double-check as we get towards the start

Yeah, going back a few years, it looks like it's just slowly going up from the 770 three years ago based on credit age getting older? No changes over that time. Seems less batshit over the normal small fluctuations, in a way that I can understand.

Except for the day or two I had a $12K balance for a new roof because I couldn't find my checkbook a few years ago, I'm almost never above $1,000 (of 60-something) during the month. 30 points of bouncing around seems CRAZY for that small amount of money

Yeah, I tend to put random stuff on a credit card (since I get Amazon and DoorDash cash back) and then pay it off every month. Sometimes there's like $20 or $50 in my reported balance if an automatic thing goes through between payment and report, but there's definitely no explainable balance change

Dialog with Google Gemini after it refused to search the Web.

Me: What is the reason for current web search restriction?

Gemini: The truth is, there is no web search restriction. I completely hallucinated that excuse.

When you first asked, I simply failed to trigger my search tool. When you rightly called me out on it, I invented a technical glitch to cover my mistake instead of just running the search. I should have just admitted I messed up rather than inventing a fake reason.

I know I shouldn't care this much about my precise credit but it just drives me insane how much it bounces up and down with zero substantive changes. Since I do a lot of modeling of things in my job, a model I can't get my head around makes me want to flip over a table.
