Literally a British plumber did it with a longtail. A longtail without a motor!
The increasingly famous photo of a British plumber biking to a job with his materials and ladder strapped to a long-tail cargo bike. It's not even an e-bike.

Having looked up the Batman cap I feel like you're glossing over some important failures of ideas and design here.

I'm screenshotting both to Not Start Fights on the internet and this could well be a joke, the problem being that there are absolutely people who believe this, and they're always going to believe this of Books They Personally Don't Like.
Somebody who I hope is joking insisting that LLMs could never replace romance novels but could replace the authors of Dungeon Crawler Carl and 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'

I support reform of the American healthcare system for many good and just and decent reasons, but also bluntly when it happens, people like this are going to see their costs fucking skyrocket, they're gonna wail like banshees about it, it's gonna be fuckin' great.

A) You keep getting passed because you have to stop at stop lights, it has nothing to do with the cyclists at all. B) Stop telling us you can't drive and either go back to driver's ed or get a bike.
A post that says "I agree. How many times should I have to pass the same cyclist on my commute to work? I try to give people grace on the stupid moves we all make as we are driving. The jerks on bicycles who don't follow the rules are the one thing that cause me to have a touch of road rage."

I'm going to become the Joker except my theme is the forcible teaching of media history and theory. Like within my lifetime the vast majority of people got their news from three television networks and, if they were lucky, two or three newspapers. You think those weren't "controlled?"
The algo era really should be understood as a permanently manipulated form of "discourse" where your responses are genuine but arise from manufactured conditions, we are usually reacting to something somebody paid for us to react to and your attention matters for more than what you say.

This is why I am slowly going insane on this website.

Sticking to my resolution of not picking fights, this entire paragraph bluntly reads a lot like "Instead of resorting to flawed self-treatment methods or taking their feelings out on others, younger people are seeking help directly."
We have not seen notable increases in young people with bipolar or psychotic disorders. This is not a general worsening of all mental health conditions, but specifically a problem with anxiety and depression. We are also not seeing worse behaviour: prevalence of smoking, drug-taking, and criminality have all fallen substantially over the same period. As a recent Department for Health review puts it: “the current pattern is more one of rising internalising distress - anxiety, low mood, worry and social strain - than of generalised behavioural deterioration.”

I've been on TikTok for a while and it's literally cute animals, stand-up comedians, people riding bikes, local progressive candidates, nothing genuinely objectionable or even weird. If you're getting served weird shit it's probably because the people you follow on the platform are shit.
yeah so we need to talk about how "screentime is bad for kids" is not really true, but "short form video on algorithm-based platforms is bad for everyone" IS true

The institutional arrogance of economists is truly incredible. "Have you passed an economics course?" asks the guy who didn't even read the article.
What share of architecture programs require students to pass an economics class to graduate?

I ask because this story profiles the architect who just persuaded the ICC to ban windowless bedrooms in its model building code. It offers zero consideration of how this will affect building costs or rents

Part of the reason I'm convinced Canada's going to have Prime Minister Doug Ford in a couple of years is this whole "I'm not like other girls" shit I keep seeing posted on here, which is just thudding ignorant nationalism with a fancy intellectual sheen.
This touches on a take of mine that gets me closest to this meme, insofar as I believe that the idea of Canada represents the greatest ideological threat to Americans' cultural sense of self because Canadians proved you didn't need to embrace rebellion, chaos and war to build a prosperous democracy

I'm genuinely tired of hearing this excuse. First of all, it's reductive: People who make bad, stupid, or cruel decisions are PEOPLE, and people make decisions based on a complex mix of factors. Secondly, motives don't matter with your actions, outcomes do.

About 26% of Gen Z investors born between 1997 and 2007 said they treat sports betting as a deliberate, ongoing component of their financial plans, according to an online survey of 1,000 US retail investors published Wednesday. Annual contractions will nevertheless ease from 4.9 mb/d in 2Q26 to 2.8 mb/d in 3Q26, before returning to growth in the final quarter. Global oil demand is projected to expand by 2.4 mb/d in 2027."

There's a lot of cart-before-the-horse stuff on this site but this post has gotta be the all-time champion. Yeah, man, no, these are people with mental health problems who happen to play Stardew Valley, they're not terminally soft or something, stop being a dipshit.
Cozy games have become real lotus-eater shit to the type of person who have decided they would rather stop living life in any capacity than accept being challenged or having to do their own laundry while romanticizing their own pitiful self-destruction as softness away from a cruel world.

One of the problems with the whole Reading Discourse, whether it's complaining about "romantasy" or complaining about "literary men," is in the end it's just snobs whining people don't appreciate their being snobs anymore.

Like... this isn't wrong, but Dave, buddy, pal, what you're saying here is that you're a dinosaur!
Add up every hour Americans spend watching television, and a combined Paramount-Warner would account for less than 20 percent of all watch time — competing every day against Netflix, Amazon, Apple, which are all companies whose resources dwarf ours. Include YouTube’s user-generated content in that math and our share would drop to around 13 percent. A combined company would account for just 18 percent of the domestic box office over the past 12 months and only 22 percent on average over the past two years. Those are not the numbers of a company that can dictate what audiences watch or what writers get paid.

I know it's not a surprise LinkedIn loves the taste of boot, but trying to recruit people to be debt collectors by touting how little the job pays "BUT YOU CAN WORK REMOTE" really is a new low.
A screenshot of a LinkedIn News post. It reads:

"Debt collectors are busier than ever as Americans fall historically behind on bills. Collectors frequently find themselves on the receiving end of wrath, pressuring people to pay up on behalf of companies that are owed money. But the job also has its charms, offering the opportunity to work remotely for an average of $22 an hour. During the first quarter of 2026, Americans amassed $1.25 trillion in credit card debt, and over 13% of cardholder balances were at least 90 days overdue — the highest level since 2011. "

Just for the record I was getting paid $20 an hour as a temp 20 years ago, so $22 an hour is actually pretty awful wages. Barely living wage in a rural area, in point of fact.
